I was watching replay of NSW game and Konstas looks to have a nice technique, almost old school compared to the likes of smith and his shadow.
Konstas looked calm and relaxed, didn’t fidget and touch his head and both nuts before tacking the crease. Had small pre-cursor movements and played straight mostly on the front foot, (but due to bowling full). I like the way he runs out to the middle, maybe the bowlers should try that in between deliveries.
I’m picking him next game, well I probably would have picked him before McS.
In leagues we say if ya good enough you’re old enough. In cricket we want blokes to spend the first half their career in reggies in case they get a few outs and it affects them long term. I say pick them when they are in form, if they get dropped and have to make it back that builds resilience. 🤷‍♂️

I know its hard to drop someone who's been one of our greats but being pragmatic we have to start building a new age team
I honestly feel McSweeney will do better at 3 or 4
I love Marnus being so fast and lively in the field but don't think Smiths reflexes at slip are quite what they were .
Of course if you move McSweeney then you need a new opener preferably one who fits the Warner type tempo and Konstas although right handed fits the bill
Our bowlers I feel have done enough to go out on their own terms as long as they stay very fit
Hazelwood and Boland are interchangeable
As are Lyon and Murphy and Carey and Inglis
The decisions must be made to maximise our chances of winning back the Border Gavaskar trophy
THATS WHAT ITS ALL ABOUT OR SHOULD BE !

For an old dude struggling to understand how you can bowl and captain a side wokely, please enlighten me with details and actual on field evidence, and time of event preferably by over number.
I did look the word up again, just to be sure I wasn’t missing something, but there were basically two meanings; one, the original meaning, and then two, which was basically described as someone using the word to justify them being a tosser.

But I'm concerned with Khawaja now as well ......if he can't get a 50 next Test where do we draw the line with him 🤔

It was tongue in cheek.
He bowled with fire in the 2nd innings. Tbh shows how underdone he was in the first test.
Re England they have ridden there luck

Sorry yep the tongue in cheek was good ! But I was too dumb to pick it up
Yes I even posted Pat was underdone for first test before it started
 
It’s probably time to tap one of the older batsmen. You can’t tap Uzzie because you need one old head opening the batting, so for me it would be Smudge. I would move McSweeny down the order and bring the young NSW opener in. Marsh also probably needs a long look at.
 
Another failing of the crowded fixture is that there will be no more Shield till Feb. You drop someone now and they have nothing to go to but BBL or grade cricket. Some good upward pressure put on by Patterson, Hunt, Konstas, Webster and O'Neil on the bowling side of things.

there will be pressure on all bar Head, Carey and the bowlers. Smith probably feeling the most as it stands. Gone are the days of dominant Smith but im still backing him in as one of the great problem solvers to score some decent hard working runs this series.
