Cronk - Roosters Official..

Russell, I get your point regarding the unknowns. If the offer was publicized I suppose we would know but I am not for doing business like that in public so 100% agree with you there.

However, as for your thinking that Cronk isn't that good without Smith, or may not be good with Reynolds - well, that is an unknown…...

True, Cronk might not deliver a premiership but the culture that he would imbue would be lasting. Anyone who truly believes that Cronk is not an elite player is either completely mad or its sour grapes. As far as I'm concerned, our fans have an entrenched inferiority complex and are completely resigned to the fact that we will never attract marquee players, so now we just theoretically reject even the notion of one coming. What if we did make a play for him? Who are you to reject Cronk?

Your view is let the Roosters have him. Are you serious? Would you let your competitor in business just take a major contract (even for a year) without doing everything to try and get that contract?
So defeatist!

Come on Tigers fans its time to shed the complex, act like the big boys and show some intent.

Besides, anyone who thinks we are just fine with Brooks is not a fan who has the best interests of our club at heart.

I don't think Brooks is the abject failure some have made him out to be. Granted he hasn't come on like I thought he would have but aside from 5th tackle options and properly utilising his running game he does most things right.

In saying that, we are nuts not to have a go at Cronk. If we're not on the money well fair enough that's what it is but you'd be thinking we would have at least made a call to his manager, and I dare say we have. He'd be great to have around for a couple of years, especially to mentor Brooks.

It won't take much for the same flock who deathrode Taylor for 3 years to turn their pitchforks on Cleary. It's already starting, if only subtly.

I was very critical of Taylor with good reason he was divisive just like he was as a player and coach at other clubs. It is highly unlikely i will find any reason to be critical of Cleary for at least a year on what he shown this year we couldnt be in better hands. The improvement that Cleary bought to the team was obvious.

I would love Cronk to play for a struggling side, put this "is he really any good?" nonsense to bed. It's like when Bennett took over Dragons and Knights…yes he is a god, no maybe not a god but still quite good, wait he's back at Brisbane... yes he's a god again.

Im glad you raised the supercoach, the greatest example of a myth in our game.

Was with the broncos, essentially the queensland team full of internationals, but could only manage a handful of grand final wins. I know, not to be sneezed at, but should have had twice that many. Why you ask? Well the old 'clydesdales' often floated around with allegations of extra money and gifts off the books. Now those who rmember, in the mid 2000's, the 'clydesdales' hit a hurdle and disappeared for a bit. Is that why Bennett moved on to the dragons? Hmmm, maybe.

Now to the dragons, who were on the cusp of a grand final with unknown Nathan Brown. Along comes supercoach, with an injection of special funds for the dragons and lo and behold, and grand fibal win. Well done Supercoach. Whats that? There was only enough funds for two good cracks and then it dries up?

Along comes Nathan Tinkler with vast riches and promises. A four year deal is signed and sSupercoach is on the move again, leaving the dragons to wallow for at least the next 5 years because they were raped to within an inch of their life.

Now Newcastle is on the rise thanks to his massive skills (and a healthy $$$ backer). But just as we round the turn, fatso Tinkler falters and the cash disappears only 2.5 years into the 4 year deal. Oh no, what now?

By this time, the 'clydesdales' have regrouped at Brisbane just as supercoach starts feeling homesick and out he bails in year 3.

Back to the Broncos and whilst we have virtually a queensland team geting paid unders, we just cant crack the final hurdle.

Now tell me if any of the above is wrong, draw your own conclusions, lots of coincidences for supercoach.

Off topic, i know, but this is how myths are born. Clearly Bennett, like Cronk is very good. But a great and super and legendary…...........PASS.

Whilst Cronk is a good player, no doubt, im just not sure he is the next immortal that some make him out be be.

He is not going to play on at a 'weaker' club, because he just isntvthat good and im sure he and his management know that.

He can only do things one way, and when he doesnt get good service or play behind a big pack, he is no different to others. He has benefitted greatly from playing in thatvteam in this era. Made him look way better than he is, and good on him for that.

This post is really funny
Of course he's benifitted by playing with some of the players around him, who wouldn't ?
But he also has a huge drive for perfection in his training and in a game.
A lot of people who know him better than most of us will readily tell you that He also has one thing that is missing in a lot of people in a lot of sports, a brain that is quick to analyse a situation much quicker than most.
He's really interesting to single out in a game and really watch what he does.
You may change your opinion,
Any club that can get him and doesn't at least try to is kidding .

He'd be mad to come here though, even with Clearys improvements, why should he make his last two years in the game, the hardest of his whole cAreer
I'm wrappedhat he's dumped the Violet crumbles,
But at his stage, he's got the rest of his career to set up a great life for himself and his family.
And he won't be losing any tears over disgruntled fans from any club whining about him really being " Not That Good "
Your probably right though, we could pick up a couple of halves from this years u20s for way less Money than that , even it they're also " not that good"…............wait didn't someone already try that?
