I like how the SMH present it like Manly are trying to pry him away from us against our will like he's a valued commodity

We won't let him go without a fight….........................albeit a very meagre one!! I take it Manly are wanting to contribute as little as possible to his contract payments, maybe revenge for Ballin. As long as he is off the books for 2018 or substantially off the books for 20158 then the money can be better spent on keeping Teddy, Moses etc., whereas I assume the Tigers will have to pay a good portion of his 2017 contract.

Manly got the best end of the Ballin deal look at how many minutes he played for us.I dont care how little he cost he was rarely sighted.

You totally disregarded his off field contributions. Surely your not that stubborn to say his not a champion bloke and his influence on our youngsters, members and community has zero value?

Ballin is paid to perform on the field. He has been a terrible signing based on that.

Sirro hasn't been the same since his Girl Fried busted him, now Manly want money to take him off our hands going by the message on BSB underneath the headlines.

What's really annoying was Sirro taking up the option for his last year, even though he knew he was going to be leaving the club. Just trying to milk us for an extra couple of hundred k. Maybe his new employers would have paid him that amount in any case but he took the extension with the knowledge that it would take 1-200k off our cap space for 2018.
Players looking for a release (not sure how much he is) shouldn't extend their contracts when they're unhappy.

I suppose he was backing each way and I would have done the same thing. He was never 100% certain that another club would take him on so why would he not take up the option just in case any feeler he previous had went cold. A bird in the hand worth two in the bush

Yeah smart move on his part, and I'd have done the same. The club were played for fools there, and I'd wager Curtis knows he's probably not playing to his contract value which is why he went each way and took up the option.

The way you are going Steve is that we are the 1st club in the history of rugby league who has bought a player who got a major injury soon after coming to the club

Jordan Kahu didn't finish a single game for two seasons after two ACL injuries

It wasn't like it was a situation like a Chase Stanley or Moltzen where they had have multiple knee injuries

Maybe we shouldn't re-sign Tedesco based on your logic …..

It happens , blaming Taylor for a player getting injured (especially a bloke who is recognized as one of the fittest guys in the comp ) is really pissweek to be honest

Happy - come on dude. This is going into crazy territory. It's a simple statement that Ballin has so far been an extremely poor signing. That is pretty clear cut.

If you are bringing up the great JT it's probably worth noting that the Ballin signing has probably been as successful as JT's coaching. Personally I wasn't going to mention it but I'm glad you bought it up.

Steve the Tigers would have signed Ballin after getting a medical clearance from their own medical people. On what I understand he has been doing off the field we have got more than our moneys worth. As for his injury, Ballin played a quillion games for Manly and proved to be very durable so I don't think anyone at the Tigers could be faulted for signing him,,,,bad luck happens

Now Steve was he the right buy for the club is a totally different question and I say yes, but plenty will disagree

If we go on your thoughtline Roger Tuivasa-Sheck was a terrible signing for the Warriors and the person responsible for this signing should be immediately sacked due to poor judgement. Surely this person should have foreseen that Tuivasa-Sheck during his first game for the Warriors in 2016 he would have a season ending injury.

More craziness. When did I state that anyone should be sacked or anything like that. I just said that it was a poor signing.

It's that simple.

What they'll tell you is that RTS did not have a history of long-term knee injury. But then via a different argument, they wouldn't have offered Tedesco a contract after he managed just 28 games between 2012-14.

Some people seem to think injuries are obvious and predictable, and that someone with a pre-existing injury, despite full rehabilitation, is a big risk. Statistically that might even be somewhat true, that players are at more significant risk of re-injury rather than new injury. But if that is your argument, then your potential signing pool is reduced to the 5% of the rugby league community that hasn't experienced serious injury at some time in their career.

I've said this before, the people that have clairvoyance enough to make all the right choices and selections and gambles, they don't muck about eking out a career in sports management, they take to the stocks or the ponies and earn their fortune.

Imagine if they followed that logic with Marshall early in his career.

Hopefully Manly come to the party and take the biggest hyped up player to play in our colours.

How the Hell he ever made the City team is beyond comprehension.

I go back a long way but i cant recollect us(Balmain Magpies or Weststigers) ever finishing in front in a deal with manly. We certainly are a loooong way behind, lets hope this squares up the ledger a little.I remain an optimist but the realist in me knows better.
