Someone said the other day his departure would be announced this week along with ET's re-signing. Fingers crossed.

Looks like another contract we will be paying a chunk of for the player to play elsewhere

If he's here next year, we'll be paying him nearly 400k to play reserve grade anyway. At least this way we'd save ourselves a bit of money like we did with Farah.

It is false economics we would be paying the best part of 1million for players to play for other clubs. It makes zero sense to me

Because sometimes holding onto disgruntled or departing employees for their contract term is worse than moving them somewhere else and still paying for them.

What do you think "Gardening Leave" is?

Someone in the know told me Siro is being paid 500k per year by us (thanks Grant Mayer). No wonder he opted in for another year after we told him he could look elsewhere

Tiger Torch said that his upgraded contract was worth $380k

I agree better to be paying him 200g to play at manly than 400g to play reserve grade with us. Of course if you than pay player X 200g to replace him and he ends up in reserve grade you have achieved nothing. I know he has had a lot of chances but I would have given him once last crack

Fox sports, Siro Tiger Tourch reports that he is on $380k a year.
SHHHHH II

Which club is desperately trying to move a backrower on but is having great difficulty thanks to his almost $400,000 price tag which no club is willing to touch?

Tiger Torch's post on 05/08 said that Siro is on $280k now and the option Siro took up was for $300k.
No where near the $500k people are talking about on here.

Now I'm confused..the said salary keeps going up by the week…will hit 500K by the release...

I've tried to find TT post I'm not quite sure now what the amount was but he said that Siro wasn't on big money.
Geo maybe you could find TT's post.

It makes zero sense to me either but it seems to be the Wests Tigers MO! Paying, in part, for players to play at our rival clubs, ad nauseum - brilliant idea! And we wonder why we are never in the hunt for the good quality players when they are available :unamused:

If the 400K figure is actually true, the person who negotiated that contract for the un-tested, under-performing back rower with the famous name ought to be shot!

Plenty of other clubs end up in the same situation, particularly when signing players based on potential or after a single breakout season (like Tony Williams). If you can use the money that's freed up by punting them to make a signing that you actually want in your first grade side then why does that not make sense?

Nelson, you always make sense!

I doubt you would find a club in the NRL that is not paying part of a contract for a player who is playing in another team.Clubs sign players to three year contracts or more to entice them to sign, than things do not work out or the club wants to head in another direction so they try and shop them off

Big fat bludger who will never amount to anything ever…. :sign:

Well that's possibly the worst comment you could make about anyone.

Agree at least he had/has the ability to play first grade, which a lot of people don't get.

I am positive that you are correct but i am also sure that you cant show me any other club paying the best part of 1 million to players to play against them.I hasten to add this is not a shot against you but against the stupidity of our club to accept and seem happy with this.

Obviously the Farah settlement makes up most of that million you are talking about. Although I was not happy with the way the club handled the whole Farah thing, I also think in the end both the club and Farah had to split. Anyway sometimes you have to take a few steps backwards in order to go forward

Forwards tend to mature and become better players in their mid 20's, it's a gamble with Curtis because I think he has the ability.

A change of clubs might be what he needs, but equally I wouldn't be surprised if he continues to be the player we know.

Its been said before, but I think Siro spent most of his life running over the top of pint sized halves, so when he was sent into the pigs he came up against harder stronger and in some cases bigger players and that has seemed to dampen his spirt a little. Anyway certainly at the cross roads of his NRL career and it could go either way. As I said rather than pay another club a chunk of his contract I would give him another go, but you have a lot of money tired up in a reserve grader if he doesn't take up the challenge

Ability has been Siro's middle name since 2012, yet we've rarely seen it. He's out of excuses. Injuries and the fact he didn't play second row in the juniors shouldn't matter now. Dozens of players are forced to shift positions and succeed, so its no excuse. He's had four years. For whatever reason he will never be the player he's been talked up to be for years with us so its in both parties best interests for him to make a fresh start somewhere else.

I think curtis can make it . But once jt has had enough, its unlikely ur coming back

That's how it should be. After all he is the coach!!

Not only JT has had enough, most of the fans have also.

:deadhorse:

First Semi he played in ressies he looked like he was drunk.
too slow for the halves or centres, and doesn't like to get dirty in the forwards.
If he wants to be a footballer, He has some decisions to make….

He needs a change and we need to change him….its that simple. He's not an 80m backrower and has zero impact off the bench. I am not sure he knew what his role was. But you don't have to be told to work your guts out and help your teammates when things are going awry....he would just turn it up. I doubt we will miss him, unfortunately wrecked by our previous player driven culture.
