Daine Laurie #237

Madge probably made him watch 40 hours of video of Slater, Lockyer, Minichello, Teddy etc.
He played more like a fullback today than he ever has.
If he ends up being 1/10th of those 4 then he’s a keeper. He really misses their injections of pace. He might possess it, but he hasn’t shown it yet.

But really big improvement today. Great commitment.

He plays above his weight. His no Reece Walsh in terms of freakish skill but he isn’t void of it either.
I see him being very similar to Clint Gutherson later in his career.
I see him more as Hodgson 2.0. If he developed Gutho’s or Hodgo’s ball playing then he would be gold - he’s already got their guile and we saw his intent today.

Yeah I agree, I think despite his frame he is bit more of a robust player than Hodgson. Gutherson’s game is built on his elite fitness levels. If Daine gets to that level I think he is equiped with more natural skill to surpass him.

Best game ever for us.

Looked happy and was tough.

Looks like he and his pokie machine mate the jet may become what gels the backline together.

We need a meme or gif of that idiot arcing up at half time. The head he pulled trying to mock Laurie was next level wankery.

Doesn't mind thinking he's better than he is...
Love the little fella put him in his place,

Maybe Daino is a better Dancer or something....

Laurie absolutely feeding Gutherson was one of the best things I've seen in a long time.

Such a great little player he is, hope he keeps improving his game every week
In all credit to gutho

I heard some comments from him post game saying he loved the Banter between himself and laurie

Princess Gutho

I'm happy with his efforts against Parra. Still got work to do in defence but his intent was much better and he was in motion when we had the ball which is what you want to see from the guy at the back.

Seems like a few players rediscovered their hunger this week. Not sure what it is but hopefully it stays with them.

I’ve never really considered this. I mean it was a broken leg, not a long term injury by any means but the way it happened was from him taking a tough run through the teeth. As you’ve been suggesting all along there is a psychological impact there I didn’t consider. It’s not as though it was a knee injury out of bad twist or anything he broke the lower part of his leg. Was it the Fibula or the Tibia?
Fibula.

Covid iso made DL better
He had the week to sit at home & reflect on last season
And then whamo he came out all guns blazing against parra

I hope it isn't his MCL. He was having hus best game for us last night. Great pass for the first try, involved in the plays sniffing around for the ball a lot more, and much better enthusiasm.
To'a did Ok last night but would much prefer him in the centres.
