Daine Laurie #237

Except he isn’t. How many times last year did he really blow opposition teams away with his speed? It didn’t happen. He was above average at absolute best, but he was hyped up as Matt Bowen in his prime. He wasn’t this level of bad last year, but he really wasn’t as good as everyone remembers either.
Madden made a break and was running in quicksand and Laurie couldn’t keep up…

Feels as though if the commentators keep saying it - everyone believes it’s true…

He’s never ever broken out of a canter…
He’s soooooo lazy!!

They said that about Papenhuyzen 2 years ago , to the point the storm shopped him , because they’re incumbents Drinkwater and Hughes were injured …. Then the rest is history .
He can’t play worse than Laurie . Laurie has had a huge role in losing all of our games this year . He’s always out of position in defence , and teams know if they shift right engage Laurie in the defensive line , then he is extremely slow to understand / lazy , that he needs get the hell out of marker and start moving behind the line to the left because that’s exactly where the teams are going .
Then when the inevitable try is scored we all start blaming winger/centre/half/forward who has tried to fill the gap he’s supposed to be in whilst doing their own job .
It happened all last year , and it hasn’t changed this year .
His numbering in defence is garbage as well , he doesn’t read the play and numbers at all .
Sure he’s lightning in a bottle , but it looks like for now , every team has worked out how to put a lid on that . Which makes him redundant as a fullback .
Spot on it being his second year . Teams now his weaknesses and strengths and fully exploiting

Not only could he not keep up, he gave up which was the most disappointing thing.

A number of comments re last year. The way I remember it, there were 2 phases to his season. When he started he was avg to solid, never spectacular, and had the odd clanger, 1 or 2 a week.

The few weeks before he got injured he was our best. A number of strong efforts in D and starting to look good on the sweep play.

His antics off the field are what have been bothering me (not the pokies, more the Penrif stuff and him and Nofo posing like twats). If he remembers how to play I can forgive that, but he should be dropped. His game was so low that Dillon or To'a COULD NOT have had a bigger negative impact.

He only injects himself in the opp 20.
Everywhere else he is tentative and half arsed and he was last year as well but many couldn’t see it.
Plenty saw it bud - no point mentioning it here though…
He was the best thing since hodgson.

Only injects himself in good ball - and always out wide where he won’t get whacked. Doesn’t dig into the line ever

Herbie Farnsworth do? 🤔.

I'd have a. Rack at him and offer fullback. Pay bit extra. He's a big body with decent speed. He's played a few games at fullback and looked alright.

This year though I have no idea who to put there but it can't be Laurie. He's shot at the moment
