Dale Finucane

Happily give him 3yrs on decent money nothing crazy and preferably the 3rd year as a club option, good solid player who still goes good.

Happily give him 3 or 4 years at good coin. He would be so perfect for us, plays lock has ball skills works his ass off every game and is a leader plus an origin level player.

Doubt he joins us though ?

Can't give him good coin until @hobbo1 gives his 'plodder appraisal'. Otherwise we're in for another long 3-4 years.

He loves MCK. His plodder scale doesn’t have much credibility

It's my plodder scale, but the outcomes can vary widely depending on opinions of the user.

BTW MCK is not even close to a plodder, no self-respecting plodder scores two match-winning half-field-length tries in a single season. He cast himself well out of the plodder club that year.

Perfect fit for the Tigers, at the right price. Tough, defends very well, plays good minutes, experienced leader and winner. We have plenty of strong young kids coming through in the forwards.

All depends on price and length of contract. You'd think we'd have to blow Melbourne out of the water to land Finucane, and then the Dogs who seem intent on outbidding us on any player that comes to market, so long as they still have cap space left.

I am a huge fan and he is definitely worth having a go at, two years would be the perfect length for the contract if we were able to land him. We have too much fantastic talent coming through the ranks, two year would allow us to get the benefit of his his experience and professionalism any longer and it would stifle some development and progression planning that is going on right now.
Absolutely love the fact that Canterbury are bidding on everything and having to pay overs to get in the bidding ring. Have these clowns learnt nothing.

Would prefer to pay extras for 3-4 year contract on brandon Smith! Jesus he’s a game breaker. Start him at hooker and move him to lock when Simpkin comes on. Now that’s a player I would be happy to pay extras, young, has skills but more importantly the attitude to win games. Also the fact he’s a fan favourite, it will bring more players to us and positive media. Win all around!

Can’t believe how much positivity there here for the is signing.

This absolutely reeks of our classic paying overs for an ageing bloke that can barely get on the park these days.

Big no from me.

Good player but always cautious signing Storm forwards. Not many have done well after leaving.. would probably rather use the money elsewhere.

I feel Adam Blair set a bad name (he failed here but always made the starting line ups at Warriors/Broncos).

Proctor, Tohu Harris, Ryan Hoffman (Warriors), Glasby, McLean have all been the best in their teams after leaving.

Outside of forwards: Hampton, Mann, Drinkwater, WIddop etc have all done well at their clubs too.

I'd love to buy someone from the Storm sytem, Finucane would be the top of the list as a leader.

You lost me at Hampton.

Good player. Would rather Nathan brown tbh but would certainly make us a better team. Obviously lots depends on price.

Saw on 7 news he's staying at eels

apparently some issue with length of contract he is getting 2 years and annoyed he was not offered 3 or 4 like Mitchell Moses apparently parramatta were saying they were not doing long term deals

Wow people downvoted you for this. This is the perfect player for us. As tough as they come, from a winning culture and has played SOO. Throw the cheque book at him. Funny how people always find reasons why we shouldn’t chase rep players like we don’t need them or something.

I know... we could sign a Nathan Cleary, Jason T or Munster and some people would be complaining still... You cannot win

In fairness to Madge and Hartigan when was the last player we have signed that has been overpaid ? They have been buying players at market value or under and once we lose Packer and Mbye I would not have a problem with them overpaying for a top line player to help attract others.

Joey Leilua was the last bad one really. Since then we haven't signed big name players but we've not paid silly money for anyone

My only concern is how good would he really look in our team. Being in a dominant Melbourne team really hides any flaws you have as a player

He would probably have to work 2-3x as hard in our team to look as good here.

I don't think Finucane is a plodder , but I think his best injury free years might be passing or my have even passed

4 years is a lot for a player like Finucane at 29

That is my thoughts also,it is always high risk signing a veteran forward in arguably the toughest contact sport in the world.Caveat emptor

Is he Greek??

Irish descent.

Finucane and Nicko Hynes showing as both off contract 2021 though I think Hynes has since resigned. With the best spine in the comp salary cap pressure comes into play especially with a number of the forwards including Jessie Bromwich,Kafusi and B Smith off contract 2022.
Storm are in the enviable position of having a 5 man spine with 2 hookers just as good as each other.
So a decent play for Finucane is not out of the question and at 29 a 3 year contract should be looked at especially with Packers money being avaiable and Finucane is a far better prospect to us than Packer. Then there's the possibility of Mbye money becoming avaiable early.
