Dale Finucane 3 years $ 800 k per year is a strong player and leader
Wants $950K pa....no thanks
Finucane wants 700k per year on a minimum 3 year deal with 4th year option in his favor. So that's at least 2.1 mil for 3 years. Now if more than 1 club offers that sort of coin (he's not earning that much at the Storm), then it probably becomes a bidding war. If he can't stay at the Storm, I don't know if he has a preference outside of them. I don't think he's going down the same path as TPJ and demanding more to play for certain clubs.
If 4th year is in "his favor"you can lock that extra year in in Eddie...no-one else is gonna be chasing him in his final year at 34!!
Reckon you cld be certain his manager is chasing a premium to play at chronic finals non-performers like WTs...but I cant see any of the top 4 clubs wanting to buy him at this age and stage him anyway, and certainly on a 4 yr deal effectively??Thats why theyre top 4 clubs.
Nup...hes gonna have to go to a cellar dwellar like us at a huge premium(if were silly enuff),or maybe a fringe "contender" like Raiders or Broncos who both have a bleak short term future but maybe in a couple of years...?
Why doesn't V'Landy's do something to correct this incongruous situation which is heavily biased against the lower based clubs,
It all comes back to the massive salaries of some players. Players like Teddy, Turbo and his brother,Munster, Smith and others love the game, and want to achieve great hights.
Then you can get caught signing established players who by 26 have 3 mil in the bank and are worried about their looks or future injuries and just coast along, they are set for life.
Mbye, Packer, Reynolds, are just a few we have been unlucky with, but most clubs get stuck with at least one.
It is understandable , why we are gun-shy at spending big dollars, but it is a big risk. Though saying that, Hynes,Burton,Staines etc would have been players i would have chased and said so at the time.
