Danny Galea

What does everyone think about him playing lock???

With Ellis and Heighno as secondrowers, would he fit into lock for 2010….

Personally i think Heigno should be playing lock.. and usually does regardless if the number on his back says otherwise

I would rather have Ellis at lock with Galea and Rhino playing on the fringes. Rhino needs to go back attacking the way he was in 2005\. He craved up off the bench running good lines and going through the tackle. Atm he is submitting too easy and getting pick off by the markers and A defenders by running back into the ruck.
He needs to take a leaf out of Gibbs book and start pumping those legs. Gibbs is now running with alot more purpose and doing what a prop is meant to do….make the hard yards.

Galea should be coming off the bench with payne heighno and ellis starting, then galea comes on for payne after 25 mins through till the end of the game with heigno going off around the 55-60 min mark and payne coming back on in the last 20 mins.

thats how i would utilise them for the rest of the season and that way we have our 3 best defensive players on the field at the back end of the game.

heigno loses impact after around 50 - 60 minutes, they shouldnt be forcing him to play 80 minutes, his runs offer nothing at the back end of games because hes buggered and his defense is nothing but arm grabs

Danny is a rock solid player who has never had bad game for this club, quiet perhaps but bad, no. I would hate to lose this bloke (even more so if the Manly rumour has any truth to it) when he's been going so well and replace him with young bloke. Basically if we release him I think it will bite us on the bum. Please re-sign DG now!

Cheers and go you Tigers!

I think Galea is the perfect foil to have combined with Ellis & Heighnington…

Ellis seems more at home on that left edge... Heighno usually drifts into the centre anyhow & Galea is looking better & better the more minutes he gets playing down that right edge...

These 3 players have the combination... the work rate... & the skill level to be the best backrow going around in club footy... IMO

So thats why we need to try to keep Galea for at least 1 or 2 years... to allow the likes of Dwyer, J.Shirnack & Hyland to develop more into 1st graders...

Just watched a replay of the manly game Danny Galea had a great game i would sign him no problem rather than Heighington,Chris i think reached his peak last year he seems to have lost any ball skills he had head down and runs into the defence all of a sudden there is no offloads in his game

A question is does Danny want to stay ?
In one of these posts he has been linked to Manly and he may want to go there ?

I thought that Danny overall had a good game but it was he who badly overread Watmough for his last try. That was a very disappointing miss.

I wonder the reaction if it had been Halatau.

its really weird coz i swear not long ago many people on these forums were asking for the guy to be dropped. the guy has been a solid defender always and i was not happy when he got dropped while back. a definte resign for him.

I think he has been great.
Would love to see him resigned.
What would everyone's thoughts be if we had to chose between resigning him or fulton?
Personally I would want galea.
He would be cheaper and he fits into the side very well.

that was payne wasnt it?

nope Payne was marker. Payne had a good chance of grabbing Watmough but missed. Most of the blame should however go to Galea for leaving a gaping hole in the line.

When the team is on the backfoot holes in the line happen. As fans most of us understand that.

The majority of Denes misses this year though have just been poor attempts. Sika Manu destroyed him in Melbourne, don't know if Galea would have faired better though (I think he would have)

I hope Dene uses his time out with injury and re-focus and come back better but at his best I would still pick Galea

From what i have heard he wants to stay but the Tigers aren't offering much… although Sheens looks to be using him a lot more over the past few weeks and he looks to be trying to show the club why he should be on more coin...

I believe Danny Galea is finally making the his name in the forwards. It has taken nearly 3 years and it would be a shame to let him go as he can really hit in defence and he has a low mistake rate (a real good worker).

Well if Sheens and the club have set Danny a challenge, he's certainly giving a good account of himself so far. He's getting better as the season goes.

Hopefully Smokin Joe signing with the Eels give us a better shot at keeping Galea

The club has spent three years developing this player, so he is now a good first grade player, who is starting to prove he was a good buy. After spending all the time and money, now the investment is coming good, the Tigers wouls be crazy to let him go, unless they have some-one just as good at a lower price.
Sign him now!
