David Klemmer #264

If we had snared Klemmer it would have probably meant we would not have had the cap space for ET and with the rise of players like JJ our front row stocks are stronger than what we thought we had. As much as Klemmer is a top notch player,I think a player like ET adds more to our side and of course if it frees up cap space for AJC than it is even better.

He would of been a good signing for the Club but we would of had to pay way overs to entice him away.

No big deal if you ask me, he tends to go missing at times.

And we thought we were close …...........LOL

Exactly mateship means little , what puts bread on the table for the family , has a lot more weight

That must be some fancy bread he needs to keep his family stocked in…

at least we dont have comical cuzzo working for us anymore. ill never forget when he released a press statement saying ''we thought we had him'' saying we nearly signed Tana Umaga from the NZRU

Kinda glad we still have that money to retain ET and maybe be able to hang onto JJ and a couple of other big youngsters.

I'm liking the way we finally have some size coming through the ranks for once.

Klem would bolster any pack but we already have a 'marquee' prop and if these young blokes keep stepping up we might be okay there. Smart recruitment needs to be our go at the moment not just throwing money around (what little money we have lol!)

i think the bigger point was he was considering taking unders to come here. he took 500k over 4 years at the dogs which is probably around market rate.

youd take a guess and say we offered him around 400-450k. I'd definitely take klemmer for that sum - very astute purchase.

happy to give up a player or two like sironen, lovett and naiqama for klemmer

Like he said, its a Business
They have to rake in all they can whilst they can
Life after footy ? Centrelink aint gonna pay much
Super ??? well maybe, for how long

I wonder what the outcome will be when Klemmer returns the favour and try's to lure Woodside to the Bulldogs when his contract is up?

So not really close at all.. Just a nothing article. Woods and Klemmer are friends, all I took from that lol.

Dogs won't be able to sign him for 700k

How close was he, not very.

His mate said come play with us, that would be cool, he said yeah it would be cool.

That is as far as it got.

Assuming that TigerTorch has some idea what he/she is talking about, and he has a good track record, we reportedly put a solid offer to Klemmer for 2017+ to bookend with his mate Woods.

Klemmer re-signed with Dogs for 4 more years.

I was thinking about it this morning, if we had this kind of money to offer starting next year, where has it gone wrt ET? We have always known Farah's back-ended contract is a big burden on our salary cap, but only recently has the story emerged that ET's asking price is beyond what we have spare.

I am not clear therefore how we managed any kind of offer to Klemmer in the first place. Obviously if the story is untrue, then it is self-explanatory.

Good question. We resigned Aloiai,Lovett,Liddle but they were hardly on big bucks…...Maybe Brooks and Moses re-committing for another year not that that should make a difference. In hindsight, it does sound a bit odd.

I actually was thinking the same thing! Klemmer came out in an article too confirming the Tigers approached him.

The broses cash surely couldn't have taken it as that should have already been factored in.

When it comes to salary cap restrictions, all clubs are dirty liars. Believe it when the NRL intervenes. You could easily imagine the club using "we can't afford Elijah" to elicit support for the Farah sacking.
