I actually thought he was on $450K. He was a massive beneficiary last time of getting overpaid due to a Parra bid. Sets someone up for disappointment this time around.

He was definitely paid overs at the time but in fairness he's probably played up to that value. We're carrying several other players who've played nowhere near their pay grade.

Good luck with that. Cream of the crop wingers would be lucky to get 500K.

Depends how the club value him, but I would seriously think that we would get nowhere near that given we have quite a few outside backs.

Tigers won't pay overs, I'm happy with that. Nofo is a good team player but not an elite player. Even JAC is only reported as receiving 600K in his final year of upgraded Storm deal, and Nofo is unfortunately nowhere near that.

Same as the Aloiai situation, and others, Tigers have a firm ceiling and won't be coerced into breaking it like we did when Ivan first joined. Smart bidders at every auction!

He has has performed up to his value for 1 season of out of 3. He was worth nowhere near $450k for 2018 or 2019.

The 450k number comes from a clueless idiot who works for the telecrap, largely referencing an article from 4 years ago. What a Muppet

Some clear agendas from a few posters on Nofa. Very predictable and disrespectful to our player of the year.

The good thing is regardless of the hate for him by a minority, Madge rates him very very highly and as others have mentioned our offer will be very competitive. If he leaves, it will be because some club has offered silly money.

If he wants a pay rise he has got to take his game to a new level and that means SOO. He had his best year in attack, his defence was poor. He didn't make it to SOO and from what I heard wasn't close.

Last year he took his game to a new level. I'm not going to pretend to know what he's currently on, but he's improved since he was last up for contract negotiations so it seems plausible he should get a pay rise.

Any winger would be ordinary in defence with the likes of Benji and Garner inside them.

I honestly dont know which way these negotiations will go between Noffa, the club or rival clubs..
I wont go into speculating how much he is worth to US,thats up to the experts on the subject,if he wants to stay and we give him a reasonable increase then its up to him if he stays or goes....
my only thoughts on these contract extentions etc are that the common denominators that affect the said negotiations are always about money and player managers increasing the values of players..
LOYALTY,being a one club player, staying on lower money to help the club are all a thing of the past..
We have seen to many underated players be given huge amounts of money in the past, not live up to the expectation, managers grinning from ear to ear with the outcomes that now this seems to be the norm..our previous dealings that Ivan left us with is only a small example of what has transpired over the years and with other clubs also..
I really think it is now becoming clear that the NRL must start looking at values of contracts, players wanting early releases, managers who have numerous players on their books and playing one club against the other to gain more value for his clients etc..
I dont know what many people on here think in regards to my post, but I will say it is high time the NRL took this into serious consideration as it will balloon out of all proportion and only the very rich clubs will have the upper hand and the rest will become also rans....just my thoughts guys...

Avo who is out there that is fast that can replace him ? Mansour is solid not spectacular by any stretch

I'm not sure of the answer to that. I don't really rate Mansour though, I think he's a worse version of Nofo.

Mansour is not really a step forward.
We need to develop our own talent not players that are at the end of there careers and unwanted at prior club.

The Daily Telegraph reports Parramatta are a likely suitor for the 27-year-old who could command as much as $450,000 a season on the open market.

How funny is this figure. That is about all I'd offer him and I don't understand why we wouldn't just offer that or close to it without all the media/player agent drama.

Seeking north of $685k

Please tell me you're joking...

No I’m not, that’s what Ayoub set as the target price x 3 years

Thats a ridiculous amount. Supposedly Melbourne only increased JACto 550k for his final year there. Was also reported Canterbury paid Cotric 600k a season. No way is Nofo worth more than those 2.

I guess when you try and put a value on Nofo you have to factor what it is going to cost you to replace him. He comes with a long service cap discount so you obviously lose that if he walks.

I actually like the way the club is now playing hardball, they put a value on a contract, probably build a little wriggle room and that’s it. Management of the cap has to be one of the most important jobs to excell at

The nrl have been looking into players and their managers seeking early release from contracts since 2018. It’s now time for an action plan.

Yeah I think it was reported like $400K (if that even is indeed true.)

He was certainly overvalued last time around.

As stated above he has probably performed up to that level. I'd like to keep him but in my opinion $450k is more than fair.

If I was managing the cap I'm not sure if I would pay $450k for Nofo. I played around with the figures in relation to the cap and filling positions and I think that is overs for a winger. I don't think you can pay many players above 500k. I'd have all forward positions and the spine players earning more than wingers and those are the guys who could be earning $500k. You only pay the top players in those positions that sort of money though.

If his manager is really setting expectations on that salary I wouldn't engage with him.

The trouble here is negotiations are based upon one great year.
The current contract he is on is a 4 year deal.
Although can sniff out a try and can unscramble a defense by crabbing sideways sadly his defense is also a liability.
Last year had a tackle efficiency of 67.95%
Compared to others backs BJ - 83% - TT - 69.23% - AK - 73.30%

Madge is trying to build a team on Defense and Nofo does not fit the bill. The club won't be paying overs he stated last time he was 1 day away from signing a new contract with Eels.

I do understand that he also would like to play finals football but in reality its about the $. I also think there is a genuine club loyalty factor with this player and he does give 100% every time he runs out onto the field.

There should be a discount involved with length of service that also needs to be factored in that should put us in a stronger position with negotiations unless silly $ is involved.

There also might be part of a master plan to not keep players that have been around for a long time without playing finals and bring in fresh players.

Hope the best outcome for both parties, we lose him its about the $ & finals, if we retain him he needs to improve his Defense.

You cannot blame the players around him for his poor reading of defensive situations particularly coming in and leaving his opponent unmarked when he needed to have confidence in his centre.

His new manager apparently told him he was worth $800, (ex real estate agent maybe 😂) but the reality is far from that figure.

I recall a direct quote from JAC indicating he was on $375k.

Then this from fox sport..
“With Addo-Carr now set to stay put in Melbourne, the Herald reports the Storm could afford to increase his $375,000 salary for next season to $500,000 — if skipper Cameron Smith does indeed retire.”

“The Herald’s Michael Chammas reports Addo-Carr is remaining with the Storm because his contract will be topped up with an extra $100,000 and will hit the market again looking for a bigger deal for 2022 and beyond.”

I would love to know what the club offered? Was he lowballed? Or was it a reasonable valuation?

There you go, 500K, even less than I thought reported.
