David Nofoaluma #164

The club has put a $ value on him. That value is all they should ever pay. Another club may value him more highly. If that's the case - see ya later, Nof.
I'm fine with him going elsewhere if he can snag more $ than we are offering. He's not a world beater. Having said that, hopefully sense prevails and he signs another contract.

Seeking north of $685k

Please tell me you're joking...

No I’m not, that’s what Ayoub set as the target price x 3 years

Parra might be able to pay him less and try to lure him with the prospect of finals football

Some clear agendas from a few posters on Nofa. Very predictable and disrespectful to our player of the year.

The good thing is regardless of the hate for him by a minority, Madge rates him very very highly and as others have mentioned our offer will be very competitive. If he leaves, it will be because some club has offered silly money.

If he wants a pay rise he has got to take his game to a new level and that means SOO. He had his best year in attack, his defence was poor. He didn't make it to SOO and from what I heard wasn't close.

Sorry but I don't agree with that. A player's value to a club should not be determined by how others (the SOO selection committee) value the player relative to others, but by how the club values the player. Is Brenko Lee a more valuable player than Nofo because he wore a SOO jersey this year?

Nofoaluma is a good club winger, nothing more. Far better wingers have left our club for a variety of reasons and if he does go, he will be replaced. Insofar as SOO is concerned, you don't improve unless you play against better opposition and under more intense physical stress. SOO is the benchmark and why shouldn't his worth be measured against his failure to win selection over a number of years including pre Fittler? You can disparage Brenko Lee all you want but the reality is we were beaten by Qld.

Here's the thing, do you believe Brett Morris, a former SOO and Kangaroo, is on a huge contract? He has it all even in his mid 30s I rate him above Nofoaluma.

I love Nofo but I don't want him here if he wants marquee dollars and anything above 500k is marquee dollars. I even think 500k is overs. To me that is money for a winger who wins games for you consistently.

Honestly I would just pass and I want him to stay. These players and managers expecting such massive contracts clearly don't have any conception that there is a salary cap. If you paid every player 500k you'd get about 20 players in your team. That would leave 10 players getting paid nothing.

Realistically 500k + is top tier talent.

This is just part of the negotiations process

There are different ways of negotiating.

THere are many club greats who chose not to negotiate in the media. These are people with class and dignity and these are people who deserve to be remembered as club greats.

TBH I don’t think the players are smart enough to get these things going, I believe it is there grubby managers, remembering of course every $ they get for the client, that get a cut, they couldn’t give a dam about clubs.

That article is full of direct quotes from Nofa.

Pretty sure it was a Tv interview for one of the news stations that the quotes came from.

I must be going mad Nofa is worth every penny of 400-450k a year. The cap averages out at 300k a player maybe more when you factor in rookies and minimum contracts. We won’t get a replacement for any less I’ll tell you that. If you want to run with kids good luck.

$450k seems about right. Long serving clubman etc.

Although going on record and saying he’s bought into Arthur’s vision blah blah blah only devalues him as a clubman and probably what we should pay him. If he stays his reputation among fans will have dropped as per the split (ad passion) of comments in here

I'd go 500 k max ....and I wouldn't waste a TPA either ...if you could even get it

He ain't real media savvy ...listen to his interviews

550 absolute max.
I’m a massive fan of the bloke, but that is stupid money for a winger yet to play any representative footy.

$325+$100 vets+$20 car = $445 absolute max!

I dont blame him for wanting marquee dollars, but there is a market. If a club is willing to offer him $600 that is what he is worth to that club and he has the choice to take it.

I agree with you entirely that he isnt worth more than $450 to us.

It was a stupid decision to match the eels offer last time, based on Nofa’s threats to leave. I wonder? If we had come close to matching, say $10k or $20k we would have revealed the value Nofa himself places on loyalty?
True club loyalty is when you tell the club to write down what they think is reasonable. That’s why Mansour will never be a good buy for another club.

600 k is fine ...as long as he pays a 5 k fine every time he comes screaming out of the line and is smashing thin air

The Wests Tigers could lose winger David Nofoaluma amid reports he will consider shifting to a Sydney rival as he chases a pay rise.

Nofoaluma comes off-contract at the end of next year and would command significant interest on the open market after a strong 2020 season.

The Daily Telegraph reports Parramatta are a likely suitor for the 27-year-old who could command as much as $450,000 a season on the open market.

Nofoaluma has a relationship with Eels coach Brad Arthur and considered joining teammate Mitchell Moses as a replacement for Semi Radradra in 2017.

The Eels have Blake Ferguson coming off contract at the end of 20201

It is understood the Tigers have tabled a three-year offer to Nofoaluma but have yet to secure his signature.

Crikey if he wants $450K .. give it to him .. how much is Parra offering ..?? not worth top dollar though, 550 max.

What if taking Mansour came with Laurie this year..

I'd like Laurie early but he's still largely unproven. Mansour will be an anchor around our neck both physically and financially.

I'm not saying this purely as a way to secure Nofo, more that I don't think Mansour is the answer to any of our recruitment questions.

And if the Ferrari comes good please let me know when you'd like some free drinks...

I actually thought he was on $450K. He was a massive beneficiary last time of getting overpaid due to a Parra bid. Sets someone up for disappointment this time around.
