Hard negotiation is fair and tigers should be applauded lose him for 50k then it’s ridiculous.
Agree if its like a 50k debacle we should just pay, it will like you said go towards showing other players we can retain talent. But we gotta be a bit more wary about going overboard, I just think in this case there is little to no chance of that actually being able to happen due to his eligibility of the veterans discount, and the fact that we dont have too many retained juniours, mainly pouched, and that brooks isnt really going to affect this even if he is eligible, his not the one coming off contract looking for a pay bump.
We are offering 400k I spoke to a few people today in the know. It’s fair tbh but I wouldn’t lose him over 50k. Hopefully split the difference as it’s peanuts after tax. Nofa is more important to the team than many understand.
I thought $375k. I can live with $400k. These $500k + suggestions are crazy.

It depends though, maybe we are already at the upper end of our evaluation on him, maybe we have already gone past his onfield worth because of his other off field attributes and then that $50k could be $100k over his true value.
Maybe! that's actually quite a smart statement.
this following one is just my opinnion please noone jump down my throat about it lol >
I'm a bit wary about losing the Dally M winger of the year in the same 12-24 months where we publically lost out on LM and JAC, got called out by Benji, had the eggshells and losing the "locker room" incident. I guess i'm kind of just thinking that it might go beyond the value of nofa to retain him for future signings??? Idk just a thought

That's good, assuming 400k from salary cap and undisclosed in re to veterans, but realistically, there really isnt much people that are eligible to pull from that at the tigers right now, unless somehow Hartigans subisdising brooksies Salary but I just don't see that happening.
Tamou qualifies
Oh he does! But i doubt his benefitting from it with his price tag already low and declining (mmind you I highly rate the guy)
Its not about benefiting the players, its about benefiting the entire squad

Perfectly said. Thank God someone gets it.
This is not a black and white situation. There is so much more to it then just saying “he’s worth $450k tops and not a cent more”. This isn’t Moneyball. Running a footy club would be a lot easier if it were, but that’s not the case.
None of us know the exact figures but if he’s reportedly after $500k and he’s already on $450k then it’s an absolute no brainer.

Sure just don't see the need to subside a low risk, low value contract such as his :man-shrugging:
Could be wrong who knows, we got cash to splash and we're trying to get nofa on a 3 year contract while tamou is on 2, do we see tamou being extended after 2 at his age? If not would we subside his wage with the veterans discount? I just don't see that being a reality but i definitely could be wrong who knows.

This is my take as well. I doubt we are making him take a hair cut which means that is probably a touch above what he is earning now. So maybe he is on 300k-350k.

And all that aside he is an elite winger. Without a doubt top 5 and I would argue top 3. Who’s better...JAC and maybe Tupou. Who else?
He absolutely deserves to be paid as an elite winger. We’ve seen the club draw a line in the sand and refuse to pay overs so I have full confidence Hartigan and Madge will get it right here.
Jesus if you’re a Tigers fan and you don’t love Nofo then IMO you’re doing it wrong.

Basically every club gets the $200k, all it does is increase your salary cap by $200k.

There is so much misinformation in the so-called footy sports shows that is so annoying.
The "experts" are as dumb as, and they don't love the game - just their egos.
That is sad.

Jac and Tupou are not even on $400'000 a year
I think Jac is on $350'000 and Tupou on less
So if the two guys are better than Nofoaluma then I think Nofoaluma should take $450'000 from our cap maximum
And thats being generous based on other wingers abilities and salary
If Nofoaluma is able to get a long service player allowance then by all means I would top it up
But I am not sure he is able to get that at the moment
If he signed a 3 year contract with us now that would surely get him up to 10 years at witch point he would be in line for a payment of up to $200'000 outside the cap
So that being said, $450'000 x 3 years = $1'350'000 plus add $200'000 for his final year and you have a total of $1'550'000 over 3 years
Now that's top $ for a winger of Nofoaluma's ability
To put it into perspective
I believe we would easily get Sivo for $450'000 a year
Take the clubman out of it, who would you prefer
Now I hope Nofoaluma stays, I really do
But we must be smart with our contracts otherwise we will never make the 8 yet alone win a grand final
What ever happens, I hope a decision is made very quickly
We dont need Nofoaluma and his Manager dragging this on
Or it wont look good

$400k and a Corolla
Take it or leave it
Hearing that’s the sticking point. He wanted a Corolla but we offered him a ‘96 Daihatsu Charade. He’s thinking it over.
What makes me laugh with these footy players and not just Nofoaluma..
Is that they think they’re worth more the older and slower they get ..
Charade will need West’s Tigers seat covers !

Nofo is the heart and soul of this club. He contributes the most on AND off the field.
