If teams above us on the ladder are willing to pay him good money, maybe we should take that as a hint.

Exactly. Starting to doubt WT concept of good value. I hope we’re not just benchmarking based on media hearsay. What’s Teddy’s worth for example? Is it a million dollars like he’s on or are the Rorters getting twice that? Jake Turbo is another, don’t care how much they’re paying him, he’s giving them good value. The real trick is picking the guys who will go out and play the lights out. Then you get a deal done.

People are scarred because whoever we’ve paid overs for hasn’t worked out. It’s fine to pay big money for players as long as they’re actually worth it. I like the fact we won’t pay overs for players, but it doesn’t help when we’re trying to sign big name players. Understand their approach though there’s a fine line there

I agree. So now we have a confidence issue and a brand issue. Makes it hard to compete.

Part of building a brand is retaining talent whilst building a culture. I agree we shouldn’t pay overs but we should recognise and pay our talent what they deserve.

Maybe if we did that on both accounts, players like Teddy, JAC and Pap would still be here.

The best way of building a brand is winning on the field. Do that and everything thing else is insignificant. You cannot do that by continuing doing what Wests Tigers have in the past and that is pay players overs and totally screw the salary cap, ending up with an unbalanced team.

Before anyone takes it too far, my post was a joke lol

I realised that

Joke or not, I’d be surprised if Nofa stays at WT

Wests Tigers can’t make him stay if he doesn’t want to. If he goes, he goes. I’d be slightly disappointed in Nofa if he goes, not the club.

We shouldn’t be trying to make him stay. It’s the role of the club to make an appropriate offer and then have an alternative solution lined up should he walk, I’ll judge the club based on this. Too often we tend to fail twice.

Agree ... I think we have advised him what we have on the table and its a take it or leave it offer.. After all our offseason moves and not paying overs I trust the powers at the club to not overpay..

That’s step one HSV. So when he takes up a more lucrative deal do you trust the club to replace him with a like for like replacement? I don’t.

Maybe if we did that on both accounts, players like Teddy, JAC and Pap would still be here.

We offered Teddy $1.1M (supposedly more than he got at Roosters), JAC was in reggies behind Jordan Rankin (genius coaching) and Pap was in reggies behind Teddy. How does your theory fit with any of these players?

I didn’t say that, but he hasn’t re-signed has he?

My theory is all about culture, why do players like Brandon Smith and Harry Grant fight to stay at Melbourne to keep their position?

And every potential star we’re aligned with pan us?

Consider the salary cap position and the way the club has performed over the last 10 years we have signed some excellent players and if that continues we will be a force..
If we lose Nofo I still think AJ and Talau will be fine IF no replacement is found.

I haven’t seen enough from AJ and he’s a Roosters reject so I’ve got serious doubts, they have old wingers and decided he wasn’t the future.

I like Talau but think he’ll take a centre spot when we cut BJ Leilua away

I think the club is doing ok lately with guys like AD and LL but we’re fighting with one hand behind our back because the top tier players don’t want a bar of us.

Cleary screwed us, no doubt about it, but it’s not like we’ve been cellar dwellers over the last 10 years, however for some reason we still can’t attract genuine talent.

My faith is more in the job that is being done by the likes of Hartigan, I have faith that he will pull the right reins. We also have some players coming through in the next 12-18 months who may be able to make the step up, players like Kei will be pushing for 1st grade spots in 12 months time.

I don’t.

If you asked me that question 2 months ago I would of said straight up No...

They needed to free up a spot for SBW.

I do

Who you got in mind Cochise? And has he played more than 10 NRL games yet?

My faith is more in the job that is being done by the likes of Hartigan, I have faith that he will pull the right reins. We also have some players coming through in the next 12-18 months who may be able to make the step up, players like Kei will be pushing for 1st grade spots in 12 months time.

It’ll be interesting to see how it all plays out, if we’re still waiting for young guys to pull us out of the dumps in 18 months that’s probably curtains for Madge. Then what?!

If we improve this year I think top players will want to join... It really feels like we are building very nicely from the ground up..
We picked up AJ because he was not going to get a shot at 1st for a while and they released him early to sign SBW I believe.. Give him a full off season and he will go well.

I don't know why but I feel BJ will get more ball this year and will be a big improver.
Starting to get excited for the season already :grinning: :grinning:

My point exactly. An old has been for 5 games was prioritised over him.

SBW might as well be Politis' own son, he would do anything for SBW.
