Maybe if we did that on both accounts, players like Teddy, JAC and Pap would still be here.

We could have kept JAC and Pap but we didn't make the right decisions. We offered Tedesco a fortune. We easily offered him as much as the Rorters did. He just wanted out because he is a piece of work.

He took his mum to the Dally M award night! He’s a good guy focussed on his career. WT need to learn a lesson from those events and become the club where players can have an optimistic view of achieving their personal ambitions. It’s not rocket science, and if we had good people ourselves who cared more about the future of the club, than they did about their own self importance, then we would be that club today, already.

Can you name the people at WT who are not "good" and who "care more about their own self importance"?

No I can’t and I wouldn’t.

Well, I don't understand the point you were trying to make.

It is obvious to anyone who has had some involvement in OD that the teamwork that we are so desperate to see on the park, didn’t exist back of house. If you think it has been a shining example then perhaps you could tell us why we don’t enjoy the same high level of success with the football team? I really would like to know?

Hmmmm ....you make some pretty wide intuitive leaps there my friend. I don't have any "informed" impression of the quality of OD (whatever that is .....) but, given your hostile response to my suggestion that you name names, I don't think you do either!!

You could have shown insight. Instead, you chose incite. Sad, really.

I can’t help the way you view things. I’m not in the least hostile to your insults, they mean nothing to me.
Seems you would feel better if I hung someone. Well, as I told you I have nobody to hang and if I did? I would not because it would be counter productive. Have a good day. And don’t go trying to upset anyone on here.

Man, you're just clickbait. Nothing more.

Do you honestly think Nofa will re-sign?

His Manager is pushing the tigers to offer ridiculous money. I don't see Nofoaluma going anywhere - he's the type that needs to be in his comfort zone - he'd be like a fish out of water in a totally new environment- but not before he extorts maximum coin from the Tigers

if it's true about us offering $460-$485k for 3 years then we've got it right. I don't think any other clubs would be willing to offer him anything more than that anyway. $600k for a winger who let's in more tries than he scores is ridiculous. typical player manager wheeling and dealing. I love Nofo and I'd be very surprised if he left us, but if he gets a bigger offer and decides that he wants to move on then so be it.

Nofo has always been very suspect in defense, but IMO he is no worse defensively than the average winger.
In attack he is much better then the average winger. Much! Any team would have him.
He is basically a tier 2 winger.

Being that he probably has 3 more good years, he *should* be looking for the best offer. He'd be stupid not to.
And we would be stupid not to practically match any fair offer. I mean, consider the realistic alternatives; there aren't a lot of really good wingers out there. I really hope we keep him.

I have no doubt he has been offered a fair contract by our club.

Nofoaluma's defence is poor. Concerningly he has not or cannot improve his defence.

Defence wins games.

We have invested in our juniors and in one year a new talent will emerge to replace him.

I agree that his defence puts him just out of the top 10 wingers, but his attack puts him in the top ten imo. I don’t go along with the idea of matching other offers regardless if they are reasonable or not. OK, I get the argument let the market place determine a players value, but by doing that you’re also allowing other clubs to mess with our cap aren’t you?

Unfortunately, Nofa’s defence is so well recognised by other teams that I’m prepared to say he won’t see GF victory. I hope he can prove me wrong though.

$460-$485 is overs imo. He should grab it with both hands, but he’s the one with the time to make a decision atm. He won’t have that advantage forever though?

I love the hardball stance you guys are taking. It's as if you think we can afford to shed good players. Before you start taking about offers around the 300k mark, go back and watch some games. He is an amazing meter eater and can score tries with three defenders in front of him. He is the only one in our roster who does this and you guys think we can impose any condition we want?

But a team of rugby league nomads, reformed bad boys, overpaid vets and unproven rookies are about to lead us from oblivion mate. Just ask the forum.

That's honestly the most accurate description of the Tigers, spot on.

Whenever I start to find myself hoping or expecting too much I go and look at some of the top 4 sides on paper. Superstars as far as the eye can see. Can’t we have just one?!

You need to lower your expectations mate and just relax ...

I think it's overs as well but you could live with it because he has been pretty good for us. I think he is nuts not to sign that contract and any club offering more than that is nuts as well.

He is a pretty good winger as well and his hit-ups are unreal. His finishing is good as well. He has some flaws but you can live with those flaws.

I don't understand this not accepting mediocrity. It's really weird. So you don't accept mediocrity but you are posting on a forum about your footy team.

If you were serious you would be out there kicking goals all the time. You'd realize that you have no impact at all on the results of your footy team. Accepting mediocrity is what you are doing.

I'm no better. I could be studying hard to become the next superstar of whatever. I happy with mediocrity in my life. Personally I'll let other people go on and be superstars of whatever it is they choose to be.

Lee on the radio this morning seems very confident about retaining Nofa. Said he won’t let Nofa play in another jersey in the NRL and wants him a Tiger for life, and Nofa feels the same. Confirms he’s been offered a contract and that they’re well into negotiations.

I think one of his flaws can be trained / nurtured out. To the casual observer, you would think at some time a WT coach placed far too much importance on statistics. It appeared that a few players grabbed the concept and ran with it. Woods for example heavily focused on meters. Benji on TA. Brooks on meters.
While Nofa’s obsession was tackle breaks. He became very good at it and sometimes provided us an advantage. Many times though, while he was piling up 6 tackle breaks our guys were making a cuppa and the other side was setting their defensive line. When players focus on stats like that at the expense of other more important features of play, it is often a strong indicator that team morale is low. How is it that nobody saw this?

Not surprising, no other team would come close to his asking price. If we cave and sign him for 4 years it's a terrible move. 2 preferred, 3 absolute max.
