One Magnificent Night...

say no more. i love that game even more than the grand final, i knew if we beat them wed go on to win. Halatau what a legend in thst game.

Time has wings…won't be a game like that for a long long time. The atmosphere was incredible.

Congratulations on a great career Dean, let's hope we can make top 8 and give you that 250 nrl games milestone

Good luck in retirement, you are a 2005 legend Dean. Switching you to lock for the play offs was one successful decision that Sheensie made.

His best game was definitely the game against St. George. I agree with the others in that I think that game was probably our best win of that season, even better than the GF.

Agreed that game paid many bills in Dene's life

Good luck in retirement Dene

Seems like a very selfless player and clubman….an absolute rarity in today's ego-driven, eat-your-own, gimme gimme world of soulless rugby league.
Heartfelt thanks Dene from every WT supporter, you will always be an integral member of the magical side that gave us fans, and the NRL in general, such an incredible thrill many moons ago.
Enjoy the remainder of this season champ and with a bit of luck you may again be a part of something special with our club over the coming few weeks.
Thanks again to a real gentleman, role-model and ambassador for our sport.

Well said FTB.

It still makes me tingle with excitement, watching this. I agree Tsjonathan, the atmosphere seemd electrifying. I would love to go back in time, so i could be there at the game.
My family and i were away overseas, so we missed this game and the GF too. :frowning:

Heartiest congratulations Dene! Champion player, champion career and champion bloke. What a contrast from some of the absolute tools going around in the NRL - Dene has been all class.

According to today's Australian, the club are attempting keep Dene on in an official capacity.

Quoting from the article (it's behind a paywall):

"Wests Tigers will create a role for Dene Halatau when he retires at season's end….."

" 'Dene is being looked at coming on board in the capacity of leadership and cultural coordinator across all three grades', Tigers chief executive Justin Pascoe said." (end quote) The article goes on to say that the role is dependent on budget approval.

There is more, but this is the gist of it.

This is good news. Dene is a great role model and an excellent man. Just another bit of news that convinces me the club is heading in the right direction.

He epitomises everything that our club should be - talented footballer, hard worker, team man, great bloke and a great role model. I certainly hope they keep him around in a capacity something like what Pascoe mentions there.

Not much chance of off field incidents when you have players like Halatau and Lawrence in your squad.

He is well spoken with his head screwed on right unlike many to play NRL
I'd love to see Dene still be part of WT after retirement

We had/have some of our loyal servants , Skando and Payten
I remember being emotional when these 2 retired and feeling a heavy loss when Brett Hodgson was given permission to buy a ticket to UK

Wishing Dene all the best that a true gentleman, clubman and family man deserves. And many thanks for your efforts on and off the field for our club.

I'm really happy he was able to finish his career here.

Well done Champ :master:

Halatau was instrumental in our late 05 run.
