Dene Halatau

Thanks for your all your effort and commitment to the Tigers over the years Deno. I hope that premiership ring is a fitting reminder of the good years you had with us. All the best for you and the doggies!!!!

Hopefully the money saved on not retaining Dene, goes into buying a prop for next year though.

Well, about 90% of the board are getting their wish in regards to player retention, with Halatau, Morris, Collis etc going.

I'm wondering if the same 90% will come back moaning & whinging about player retention next season if these guys play well & the Tigers struggle again?

I love Halatau as a footballer, and think he has been grossly misjudged in his role for the Tigers by the coaching staff.

Many complain he has no go-forward & misses tackles.

But is it Dene's fault that he is asked to be the front line at 93kgs against the 110kg props coming his way? Can we expect a guy that gives away at least 10kg's to his opponants to be an effective hit-up guy?

Heighington has been playing the role Halatau SHOULD play- the wider running forward. Or maybe the Tigers should just have kept Dene at centre.

Either way- good luck to him. I personally hope he shuts a few mouths on this board.

I find it hilarious that we now get excited about re-signing Payne & Galea…12 months ago- they were the whipping boys of this messege board.

Ahh..the fickle winds...

Good luck mate….loved for 12 good weeks in 2005.
A disappointment for the next 78 weeks (okay you played some okay matches during this time).
I hope you can bring some good experience to Balmain in their quest for NSW Cup glory this year.
And best of luck with Bankstown Sport Bulls next year with Matt Utai and the rest of the ex first graders in their squad.

Can we now sign someone decent?? Please.

ouch…......but so true.

Hate to break it to you but him playing well elsewhere will vindicate many on these boards opinion.

I think you will not find many who doubt his talent. Most, me included, rate him as a football talent and the opinion is widely held that the Wests Tigers is not the place for him to continue his growth as a player.

His development was stifled with us and he became very one dimensional and his defense (a high point of his junior career) was found wanting too often

Slightly OT but I get the horrible feeling that this will mean young Ayshford will be handed the concrete shoes known as the utility tag

Well, Ayshford fits the 'utility' role for the Tigers so well- he doesn't break the line like a forward, he's not big enough for a forward, he doesn't tackle with the consistancy of a forward.

Therefore- he should be used in the forwards.

Forget that he is going well out wide.

He did a job here and now it is time to move on. Best outcome for Dene and us. I hope that he can find the form once again which made a decent player. That's another part of the jigsaw coming together nicely for our 2010 team structure. I'm happy…

By rights, and on form, he should probably see out the year with Balmain Ryde barring an injury to the current squad as Morris offers more as a utility.

Edit: Unless he comes in for Payne than I am not fussed

Shame, I've always liked Deno, will always rate him and he will always be tiger since that memorable 05\. Seemed like a champ too, occasionally greeting the "kapow it's halatau' crew after a good game, don't see much of that these days.

Best of luck.

Probably right Smeg.

Now I'm super-glad he's gone.

That's awesome.

Wow, you need to take something to settle down.

In my view Dene has played very very ordinary football this year, and for the most part since 2005\. The comments on the board reflect that; nothing more. He definitely needs a change of scenery and this move is the best outcome.

Another tap on the shoulder.

I feel for Halatau - the most direct and hard-running footballer we have, but weighs less than half of the backs.

Best of luck Dene….Grab the opportunity with both hands

Sheens never used you right.....

If you don't carve up at the Scumdogs...I reckon you'll still get your Kiwi jumper from the Bulls.....Olsen
