This image sums up the season.

Madge - It it was up to me you would be staying but your injured now and can't offer you a new contract.
PS - I never leaked the story to Fox Media.

Benji - Listening to your sorry ass stories makes me want to go have a crap besides i have a scoop for Fox sports about my new contract at the sharks as that's usually where former Tigers players end up.

Nofo - Missed the Top try scorer record because you put me a fullback during the game really hope JAC comes next year.
I only now just believe that Benji is leaving even after those 10,000 members signed the petition.

Better late than never..

Wests Tigers have confirmed that eight players will depart the club at the end of the 2020 season.

Benji Marshall, Chris Lawrence, Dylan Smith, Elijah Taylor, Harry Grant, Matt Eisenhuth, Robert Jennings and Oliver Clark were all recognised at the club’s final home game on Saturday and will be officially farewelled at the club’s end-of-season Kelly-Barnes Award later this week.

Wests Tigers also paid tribute to the contributions of Ben Matulino (2018-19), Corey Thompson (2018-20) and Chris McQueen (2018-20), who either retired or departed the club during the 2020 campaign.

Wests Tigers would like to thank all players for their service and commitment to the club and wish them well in their future endeavours.

WESTS TIGERS DEPARTING PLAYERS
Benji Marshall (2003-13, 18-20) — Wests Tigers Player #70
Marshall made his first-grade debut for the club in 2003 and would play an integral role in the club’s maiden Premiership victory in 2005. He would go on to play over 200 games for Wests Tigers before departing for Super Rugby in 2013 — returning at the start of the 2018 season via stints with the Dragons and Broncos. An inaugural Life Member of Wests Tigers, Marshall departs the club as its highest points scorer (1187 points), equal top-try scorer (84 tries) and second most-capped player of all time (257 games).

Chris Lawrence (2006-20) — Wests Tigers Player #104
Lawrence became the youngest player to feature for Wests Tigers when he debuted at just 17 years of age against the Brisbane Broncos in 2006. A local junior of the club, Lawrence would quickly cement himself as a focal point in the side and soon attracted representative honours — playing six Tests for the Kangaroos. Overcoming numerous injuries throughout his career, Lawrence departs as a Life Member of Wests Tigers and one of just three players to feature in over 250 games, while also equalling Marshall as the equal top try-scorer (84 tries).

Dylan Smith (2018-20)
Smith joined Wests Tigers as part of its Development squad in 2018 and transitioned into the full-time squad throughout his time with the club. An Australian Schoolboy, Smith featured prominently for the club’s Jersey Flegg and Canterbury Cup squads in 2018 and 2019 and played in the sole reserve-grade fixture this year before the season was cancelled.

Elijah Taylor (2016-20) — Wests Tigers Player #196
A New Zealand international earlier in his career, Taylor joined Wests Tigers midway through the 2016 season and soon established himself as a key part of the side. An impressive 2017 campaign would see the versatile forward named the club’s Player of the Year while also earning back his place in the Kiwis squad as part of the 2017 World Cup. Having captained the club on numerous occasions throughout his five seasons, Taylor departs with eight tries from his 80 appearances for Wests Tigers.

Harry Grant (2020) — Wests Tigers Player #231
Grant joined Wests Tigers on a unique arrangement from the Melbourne Storm in 2020 — on-loan as part of a swap deal involving Paul Momirovski. Arriving with just two previous first-grade games to his name, Grant played a total of 15 games for the club throughout the year and earned plenty of plaudits along the way with eight try involvements and several Man of the Match performances.

Matthew Eisenhuth (2017-20) — Wests Tigers Player #205
A standout in the club’s then Intrust Super Premiership squad, Eisenhuth earned promotion to the NRL squad in 2017 and made his first-grade debut midway through the year — going on to play 11 matches in total. He would be one of just three players to play every game for the club the following season, and his consistency saw him quickly surpass 50 NRL games. Eisenhuth will finish his time at the club with 70 games played across his four seasons in the NRL squad.

Oliver Clark (2019-20) — Wests Tigers Player #224
Clark made his NRL debut for the club early in the 2019 season and went on to play a total of nine games in his rookie season at an impressive win-rate of 67%. The young prop would play a further seven games for the club during the 2020 season.

Robert Jennings (2019-20) — Wests Tigers Player #221
A Tongan international, Jennings joined Wests Tigers ahead of the 2019 season and went on to score six tries in 18 games for the club that year — bringing up his 50th NRL game in the process following earlier stints at the Panthers and Rabbitohs. Jennings featured in a further five games for Wests Tigers during 2020 — scoring two tries — to add to his strong strike rate of 33 tries scored in 62 total appearances.

Sad about huth

Seyfarth will mature into a good forward. Look at Tatola, we let him walk and he has matured into a good forward. Sometimes I believe we expect too much from our younger players due to the lack of established players in our side. Eisenhuth has been mentioned in very favourable ways in the Shire. I wouldn't be surprised to see him at the Sharks.

No idea why he was let go even without giving him a chance to show what he has with at least 2 first grade games... sad really

A huge fail.

We aren't doing a lot of development like a Penrith or Brisbane where letting guys go is part and parcel.

You'd hope the few guys we do put money into at least get a shot.

Instead, we've wasted years of time and money.

They have probably considered he's not better than what what we've got or what is coming. With the departure of players it will be interesting to see what the average age of our squad will be in 2021

Was Smith recruited by the previous recruitment officer?

Would expect Seyfarth to be player #30 on a bare minimum contract. Is very young, works very hard and will improve. Eiso would’ve cost more and is 28 or 29 so I can understand the decision salary cap wise.

They could possibly extend Seyfarth’s contract for a couple of more years and keep him in the Canterbury Cup system and see how he matures.

I know many will disagree but for me Matt Moylan is a better fullback than anything we have at the moment.
From reports Cronulla is willing to offload with +50% freight included. If we could organise a Mbye trade we could offer 2 year deal. I would take a risk .......
Anyway my thoughts for next year and beyond

Moses Mbye (Matt Moylan who covers quite a few backline positions would be my pick if we can get a trade deal)
Josh Aldo Carr
Adam Doueihi
Joseph Leilua (Kotoni Stagg should be the player we go after as 2021 replacement)
DescriptionDescription(Kotoni Stagg should be replacement at end of next season)
David Nofoaluma
Josh Reynolds (Matt Burton if we can offload Reynolds OR not ..... we should go all out for this guy .... future is as a ball playing lock forward)
Luke Brooks
James Tamou (c)
Jason Liddle (Harry Grant If Smith plays on for one more year and retireS when Bellamy leaves)
Zane Musgrove
Sam McIntyre
Luciano Leilua
Shawn Blore

Josh Aloiai
Russell Packer (Jack Hetherington (if we can offload Packer)
Thomas Mikaele
Alex Twal
Stefano Utoikamanu
Jake Simpkin
Luke Garner (Bunty Afoa from Warriors would be good replacement if Garner leaves)
Michael Chee Kam (Tukimihia Simpkins from Cowboys is an upgrade if we can move MCK)
Tommy Talau
Jock Madden
Asu Kepaoa
Billy Walters
Paul Momirovski
Zac Cini
Kane Bradley
William Kei
One available spot ???

Development Contract
Reece Hoffman

You’re are right, I disagreed, Moylan is very overrated and not worth anywhere near what he is getting. Also injury prone. Besides he has one of the most punchable faces in the Rugby League

Doesn’t he have a Jim’s lawn mowing franchise?

Maybe if moylan snakrd in the grass the wrong people you could wipe out all in one foul swoop

He’s dirt cheap and an extremely hard worker, he will improve. Young forwards take a lot of time to develop into first graders

I don't rate him at all. However, he is young and if he works hard he could surprise. I'd be okay with a 1 year extension at minimum wage.

FB Likes and online petitions do not equal Paying Members.

Totally respect the position and the descisions that Madge is navigating.

It needs to be done and other clubs for the most part do the same, Benji has a bright future in and around the game.

I don’t think Madge has much faith in our most recent development players. However their is upside to each one, they will sit in 29 and 30 and be on the minimum wage for a 1 year contract. They could follow the same path as Dylan Smith or they could be sought after like McIntrye.
Anyway the moves save us having to spend an extra 50 grand to lure similar players from other clubs as they are already in our system.

His obviously targeted the tier above (age, experience, reputation) in terms of key recruitments, bringing in Stefano, Blore and Kepaoa in the past 12months and also the Tier below, (Simpkin, Kei, Rizk and Hoffman)

Mbye

Thoughts?

Think Noffo and AJ will be our wingers for 2021

I wouldn't write off BJ yet

I think BJ retains his spot, cant see him playing reserves.

I wouldn't mind the following back line:

1 Mybe
2 Nofo
3 BJ
4 AJ
5 JAC
6 A.D
7 Brooks

I think that gives us a lot of height and speed down AJ/JAC's side and then a lot of blunt power down BJ/Nofos. Would also mean AJ wouldn't have to contest the high balls in defense.

Alternatively could play him on the wing and Talau in the centres with JAC fullback.. Mybe misses out.
