Do we have the best backline in the game?

You're completely right about Moses defending alone on the line. It was Lawrence's fault because he followed hodkinson I think instead of staying on the line with Moses. However, it was his first game defending inside the half instead of outside him which could've caused this lapse of judgement.

Moses didn't cover on pattys side but he did scramble well on arona.

The team that we have here are all footballers. Most of them are not the best athletes but they run hard, hit hard, scramble well and have a great sense of footy.

If jt can keep us in the top 8 for a couple of seasons- these kids will want to play their careers together.

I don't see how it was Lawrence fault? Ava looked so lost on the inside of Mitchell.

Yeah, from my recollection Lawrence held no blame for that. Unlike his bouncing halves partner, Hodgkinson knows how to isolate a defender.

To your original question/statement, no Milky, but on the improve and certainly a lot better than a bunch of backrowers forced to be filling in like late last year.

Thanks for the thumbs up guys.

wasn't blaming anyone - whether Ava or Rowdy or someone else. I'll leave others to do that if that way inclined.
Just pointing out that Mitchell had no chance, with Frank that close to the line. He went for the ball as I said - the right thing to do.

I am sure if I picked up on anything, then JT certainly will have. More to the point - it doesn't matter these days what team it is - the attacking team will always target the small players. It is up to us to have the players to help out Mitchell and Luke in these situations when big players are close to the line.
So players like Siro, Lovett, Ava, Rowdy if in the back row) etc. will have to be more aware of the little men beside them and be better at the juggling act. What I mean by that is - cover your own man and help the guy next to you.
I am sure JT is onto it already. Just takes time.

To Russell's point about Moses covering the backline in defence. This is something you don't pick up on telly that much. But when u are at the ground you see his footballers intuition in covering the backline in defence. Also his talk and directing forwards.

Alex Johnston is surely playing himself out of any sort of lucrative contract, he's been hopeless at fullback from what I've seen this game. Walker should have been head and shoulders above him, or keep Inglis at fullback and play Stewart at 6.

I'm a Simona fan but agree we can't pay overs for him. Hopefully he stays on a fair salary. If he does go Noffo could slot straight in. Hoeter looked good and Kev can play centre. There's also Seve and Fine that haven't been tested at NRL level yet.
