Do you enjoy Rugby League?

Reading through everyone's posts the nrl and our management should really be pricking their ears up when it comes to fans thoughts. If crowd numbers are anything to go by then that should be a wake up call already.

Lot are saying league is boring now, thats because the game has become too predictable. The same predictable plays and hit ups, bomb on the fifth etc. Funny how when we were the once exciting team throwing the ball around many here were screaming for a structured style a la storm or manly. Now that we're trying that style and for various reasons its not quite working people are quick to shoot it down.

Rule changes. Some do need to be tweaked. Get rid of the ridiculous kick a thon golden point, make it golden try. The 7 tackle restart needs adjustment. Teams are being penalised for kicks that are sometimes centimetres from being either perfect or costly. Cut some interchanges.

Video refs. I think they should stay in a limited and set amount of uses. The fact video refs are making incorrect decisions when clearly wrong, that's the underlying issue not the technology.

Need to change 3rd party payments scheme as top teams are rorting it. I'm sick to death about hearing how they know how to manage it and good luck to them if they do. But thats bs and everyone knows it.

My family and i love it KS. We try and watch every game when possible. And we always watch the WTigers games. I must admit, it has lost a bit of it's lustre because of all the stoppages, incompetent and biased ref decisions and of course as Flip said the " Stevie Wonder" video refs lol.
I want to see the wrestle stopped. It's so slow and tedious. I like to see the interchange reduced, so our playmakers can strut their stuff more often. But more then anything, i like to see refs be accountable for their mistakes and stuff ups.

Mama brings up a good point , a lot of issues about the game will change once the interchange gets reduced

The game has become a Circus. The refs blow 100 penalties throughout a game which makes it a stop start affair. But there isn't 1 try that they don't check with the video ref.
How long did they take to award Luke Brooks Try where Tedesco kicks it, it took them about 5 minutes to judicate a try :rant.
Whem there is 2 refs on the field it's like one is waiting on the other to make the call.

But the Brooks try technically wasn't a try , Tedesco didn't put them onside

12 penalties yesterday I think , I can live with that

And I'd prefer they checked every try , even if its one check that takes 10 seconds , by the time the kickers go through their breathing exercises , say a prayer to the footy gods , take 46 steps and 20 twitches and adjust their tackle

Tedesco put him onside with his last kick, but initially Brooks was offside with his 1st grubber.

Gidley's argument was right , the initial play that started the movement has Brooks offside and they can't say that Brooks wasn't involved , he ends up scoring the try

Earlier in the season we benefitted from a no try with the exact same ruling

Watching a game of rugby league is always exciting I love the sport…however an 80min game now ends up being nearly two hours with all the stop, start crap that goes on,you don't need a player laying all over the opposition to slow the game, just add a couple of more officials, that will do it every time..

Add to that I thought the pass from Brooks to Halatau for the 1st try was forward as well

The game has become too boring, over refereed, poorly managed, sick of the rorters etc etc etc
And I'm over it
Never thought I would say it but,I am. Sad

I will never give in but it's a shame how this great game has been butchered over the years…. :sign:

I did aswell happy, but the Faologo Try was a no Try IMO

I reckon Patty was worried he was going to end up in the in goal and readying himself to pass

Poor carry and poor technique , the minute you get the ball in those situation you hit the turf and try and scramble forwards commando style , if they try and pick you up they will get penalized , that rule has been the same since Fitzhenry broke his collarbone v the Warriors when it was changed to prevent this happening

Patty should know better , you make a bad call and you get punished

Still love Rugby league, but Am almost over the NRL
Incidents like yesterday's head high on Lawrence are turning me off the game , among other things. Not so long ago there was a ruling that it didn't matter, whether any contact with the head or neck was accidental , deliberate or any thing else . It was the defenders responsibility to not make contact with someone's head or neck , and it was a penalty every time
That crackdown lasted about 6 games.
Now it's almost open slather with all the excuses in the world .
Just this weekend ( and I only saw one and a half games this week) we've had head high tackles , (no penalty) Gidleys throat hold on Moses, ( no penalty, )) Smiths indiscriminate kicking to the head (and let's leave the SOO biases that we all have, out of this one, it was deliberate and dangerous) to name just a few.
Almost in every defence set, there is at least one or more tackles that involves headlocks around the neck or head. The laying on tackled players is back to the same as it was again( It was woeful from both sides yesterday .
We have referees now almost too scared to blow penalties. Players can deliberately injure other players with no fear of being sent off ( ridiculous)
This game must be bloody good to survive the inept administrations over the years.
The game has dropped to the level of 5 hit ups and a kick on most sets( yes we aren't the only team that does it, we however are probably the worst at it)
I probably will never walk away from the game , my son and I played league ( he made it to a higher level than I diid, and has never let me forget it.)
And now have a grand son who's life almost revolves around the game and touch football. But I would not have ever thought that I would prefer to see any of my kids play another sport, but it's getting that way.
This is not a result of WTs inept displays , and I will always support them, (so I am certainly used to losing) but more a widespread disappointment with the way the game is going.

Good post GCT.

Yes. No other team sport comes close in my opinion. But, without listing all my grievances, I agree with others above about the direction the game is taking.
And as per my post last week in another thread; the way SOO is programmed mid-season makes a mockery of club NRL by turning it into a bit of a lottery.
Whinge over.

Soccer crowds are going backwards . Only gallop and his news limited mates think it's going forward. 30k for a grand final. How impressive. Add to that salary cap rorting, terrible crowd behavior and clubs going broke.

You do realise that they "only" got 30K because they were forced to play at AAMI Park rather than Etihad?

I love rugby league, I don't think it's getting worse or boring. Many matches this year are very close and whilst the standard isn't always excellent, towards the end of the season (and definitely after Origin) it really ramps up.

I've tried to watch AFL, Super Rugby and A-League before - now those are boring codes. Do yourself a favour, try to watch that dribble, you won't complain about video refs or a few bad calls again.

the a league has been a continued success since its creation .

They took the deliberate step of playing through the summer months for what is primarily a winter sport.
The media has given soccer growing coverage with the success of the a league.

if the a league decided to change to the winter months, how would rugby league respond. ?

would they modify the rules of the game to make it a more interesting product.

There is a hypothetical for leagues head honchos.

Yep. That's my point. Any decent CEO would have sorted it out. But Gallop couldn't. He's a joke of an administrator, but he's a bit of hero the way he saved the trophy and watched Lowey fall.
