I supported an ETS with legislated outcomes and built in review procedures.
Dont support the tax in its current form.
Particular peeve is the lack of governemt intervention with power companies. As soon as the tax was floated as an idea prices were raised. In fact by my calculation there have been 6 rises in price before the introduction of the tax.
The companies sight maintenance costs increasing but in reality it has been staggered gouging, nothing more

You can throw away your electric blankets turn off for good your electrical heaters ,turn off for good your spare fridge/freezer , do not repeat not use your clothes dryer.!!! .sparingly use hot water for showers and baths , Girls do not use your curling wands or hair dryers..it just goes on and on ... :imp:

the carbon tax should be seen as an opportunity not a curse
Unfortunately there will be some pain -loss of jobs and price hikes
But in the long run it should force Australia to become a pioner of sustainable, non polluting technologies which hopefully can be sold internationally
We need to have a commercial edge above international markets
its a time to think long term not short term

In principal yes. But not while our economy is still weak and the wealth distribution part infuriates me.

Yes. Higher price will make people think smarter about how they use up energy. Insulation was a good idea also, but who stuffed that up ? Greedy money hungry "installers" doing bogus jobs ripping off the Govt and everyone else. School buildings/construction was a good idea also but who stuffed that up ? As above, greedy, money hungry tradesmen inflating massive prices for the work by 100-200%. Still use your electric blanket but just for 20 minutes before you go to bed, get the gas on, turn off the lights when you're not using them, switch your plasma and appliances off at the wall, not the remote when you on't use it. Use a clothes line not the dryer. If it's raining hang them up on the veranda. Now here it comes, Telegraph readers and 2GB listeners, open slather.
Actually come to think of it, this tax is having an effect on the Tigers already. The fewer tackles and line breaks they make, the less energy they're expelling. Ah, I get it, it all makes sense now. We are the green team.

That implies we are paying the carbon tax ourself, we aren't being taxed this. It will however effect the cost of living (energy bills etc) though hence we will be all giving free money (w00t) effectively, via tax cuts to make up for it. All in all, will pretty much equal out and won't make much of a difference to our lifestyle/budgets at all.
