Drugs, sex, domestic violence: football’s cover-up

Good comment voice_of_reason i totally understand your thoughts and good intentions but Unless they feel ashamed and leave themselves
i think the national, international legalities and human rights issues would make it very difficult for any citizen to be deported,

Just to clarify, I'm not for deportation. I believe citizenship should be revoked and if they seek permanent resident status they go through the citizenship process again. If they're deemed worthy it's granted - same as if they were arriving afresh.

If a call did occur, it is enough to confirm contact between officials,

Doctor: "I rang Richo to see how his haemorrhoids were, I then rang Rus to ask he if wanted to come to a BBQ."

No one is going to believe it but unless someone on the call tells the truth or the call was recorded, there is no proof that anyone other than the doctor knew what was going on.

Lets hope they do find proof and the guilty people are punished accordingly.

The issue is the allegation places a Souths official at the scene. I assume all officials are aware of what is to be reported under is it a code of conduct? Was it reported to the NRL? It seems not from what Abdo has said.

A comment on the Warren indicated the NRL are going to interview Jason Clark in Warrington.

Yeah it is reported on the SMH website that he was called to Burgess' home during Sam's alleged bender.

Abdo doesn't seem the type to put up with alleged cover ups and poor behviour.

What makes you say that? He has been at the NRL for a while now and so is just more of the same

V'landys s we know is capable and sets the bar high in terms of goals. I'm sure Abdo was chosen as he has V'landys confidence. That has to be good for the NRL.

This administratation has had to face covid like all sports and political bodies.I think it is fair to say nobody has handled it any better than they have

Anyone thinking there's any chance of Souths being penalised harshly - and I mean harshly, (like say..... The Tigers would be in similar circumstances) are absolutely kidding themselves. There'll be a bit of a fine, Sammy will be slapped on the wrist, Russ and Richo will dodge everything and it'll be business as usual. Play on!

It's applicable if people who hold dual citizenship are convicted of serious crimes. We've punted plenty back to NZ and the Pacific Islands as well as a few people from middle eastern background. It's not a straightforward process though and ultimately requires sign off from MHA.

Getting him to sign off on one of those orders would have to be the easiest part of the process...

Unfortunately, souths are one of the chosen clubs, so I tend to agree, but I live in hope

I must say I'm surprised and somewhat impressed by the way the NRL have managed COVID. We're a couple of weeks away from finishing the season. In March I though they were 100-1 to even get games back, let alone with crowds and a grand final whilst keeping players in a bubble.

I'm guessing it's not all Abdo but as a collective they've done a remarkable job to get the season done.

When a persons citizenship has been revoked, then for me in effect it makes no difference than being deported, because when that person is no longer a citizen and that person applies to comeback to the country, i am certain that the dept of homeaffairs is not going to issue the person with any type of visa.
Thanks mate, Cheers.

Unless he's told to so he keeps his job, of course.

The NSW Police are now investigating so it may be hard to rug sweep.

Agreed and that's the point. They're not forcibly removed from the country; their rights to permanent residency are revoked and they become a visitor. Once their visa expires they're required to depart in the same way as any other visitor.

I think it's entirely reasonable that home affairs would refuse permanent residency to someone who's perpetrated a serious crime against the country. Most countries would be the same.
