Drugs, sex, domestic violence: football’s cover-up

As i said earlier in the thread ...this story must have gone so close to breaking at the time , we knew about the father getting the AVO and the divorce and the Pics

Makes you wonder ....did the press purposely not touch this story for a reason .....

2 and 2 don't add up .....

Maybe the medical retirement was approved by HQ to get him out of the game before the bomb went off. You never know what’s gone on, but as I said before, there will be a fall guy or two if the article is proven, but lots will not be touched

This story almost has me done with the NRL. I can understand a club trying to sweep the behaviour of a star player under the carpet and cover up their mess.

But they article has implicated the head of the NRL (Greenburg) and the head of the Integrity unit of turning their attention to a rookie and playing along with the anti Souths, anti Burgess conspiracy.

It has long been suggested that the NRL play favourites, which sounds like a conspiracy theory, but these articles pretty much prove that this is the case.

So there is an alleged DV case, which is serious and illl keep my nose out till an outcome is made.

If the diazapene given to Sam without a prescription is true, or a falsified prescription, the doctor will lose his career immediately.

We can all set our calendars now. Cue the Sixty Minutes in depth interview with Sam in about 3 weeks in which Tara asks him some soft questions, he cries and we are all expected to welcome him back,

Big emotional story about his childhood and father
The lows of being a popular athlete making millions
Him holding his daughter staring out at the ocean saying that all he cares about is his family now

Give me the boy and I'll show you the man.

Who remembers the name of the kid who was in the car chase with Todd Carney through Canberra? Point is the NRL always look for the fall guy to protect a star....that kid got pumped and Carney toddled on his merry way

It's a memorable name. From memory, Todd was driving the car too, and Steve was just a passenger. But yeah, different rules for players with different abilities.

I may be in the minority but drug taking and being a pants man is really no ones business. DV is a different issue it’s the lowest of acts.

I’d be careful judging this as all sorts of things get thrown out there with divorce and custody issues. Timing of this news story is very suspicious.

What about an NRL clubs doctor writing prescriptions in false names and administering drug tests in false names. Is that anyone else's business?

You would think that in particular would be a police matter.

Well he was talking comeback 3 weeks ago

And the Drs always said Sam with the right surgery and rehab could make it back in 18 months (no guarantees )

This is why I always questioned the medical retirement .....

Yes, that is the implication.

I was wondering if the Integrity Unit would launch an investigation into the Integrity Unit.

He is a Souths official and allegedly was present during the dv incident but the NRL were unaware of any of this according to V'landys. If the allegations are true, did he report this to the Club? If so to whom and why wasn't it reported to the NRL?

considering it made the news and there were police reports I don't see how the club had no idea??
Also interesting that people are now calling for the disbanding of the integrity unit....perfect timing
