Dugan megathread

I think it is a joke that we are having any type of discussion with FAsers SUPPORTERS about reasons why the teams are underperforming!!!!!!
I have it on "good authority" that the Tigers "have Dugan/Blair/ 2 saints u/20's prop'ssigned sealed & soon to be delivered!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Faders coach/management are a bunch of MUPPETS FOR signing ORFORD- THE MOST INCOMPETENT,AND MORONIC SIGNING OF 2011!!!!!!

Don't hold back - tell us what you really think!

I seriously have no idea as to why these Dugan rumours have been ignited TBH. Raiders Management are NOT going to release their best player player a year before his contract is up. It is like your management selling Marshall with one year to run on his contract. It is not going to happen.

If it is about 2013, which by all rumours suggest otherwise, then contract talk is illegal.

As I mentioned, if Dugan wanted to leave he would not have re-signed last season and he wouldn't have approached Raiders management over a possible contract extension earlier this season.

Have we freed up enough cash for that many players?

I wouldn't be getting to worried mate with the amount of rumours and BS that gets posted here you would be amazed.

I can gaurantee to every time a player is coming off contract or testing the market there will be someone on here who 'know's someone' close to the club who says we have them signed. :crazy

Yep

I am figuring this is just one of those twitter rumours.

In the past fortnight or so, Ferguson, Vidot, Croker and Robinson have all been rumoured via twitter to be joining the Sharks. All have since come out and said its BS. Now it's Dugan's turn.

If it is announced we are signing both Blair and Dugan Schubert will be knocking the door down at Tigers headquarters before the ink is dry (Not not you Ink ,the other ink)

We signed Lote in the end so if it has the same result I won't be complaining

I especially like people who claim rumours can't be true because "player X" just had a contract upgrade and is signed until the end of next year.

Fair dinkum, the word contract should be removed from the dictionary. It means Nothing. Contracts now aren't worth anything, yet people still claim the player won't be leaving. What a crock! It's right up there with 'players negotiating now is illegal'.

If you think players and managers aren't negotiating 24/7 any time of year, you are on drugs. And if you think contracts mean something, you are on drugs X 2 !!!

Swordy, contracts DO mean something. In EVERY case you'll find that BOTH parties have to agree to nullify a contract. Classic example is SBW who can't play for any club until 2013 because the bulldogs still have a contract.

It's the same reason why the tigers can restrict heigno going to a NRL club.

I would expect the raiders to put the same restrictions on Dugan unless they felt sympathetic to him for some reason or they needed to get under the cap.

Ink ,that really made me laugh Touche my friend

Dugan is obviously a massive talent. But i do have some reservations about signing him. Rumours of a big ego, bad attitude and a tendency to not play through small injuries are what concern me. Talent wise yes, he's exactly what we need, but what about the rest he brings to the table? If we sign him ill be optimistic, but if we dont, then i wont lose any sleep over it.

Yep - some players can simply stuff a club up. Mason is on of them. Carney is another. I'm not sure if he fits into our culture.

In saying that he could turn us into a real premiership threat.

Yeh its unkown isnt it. Great great talent. But the ego's of Dugan, Marshall and FARAH in the same team will need to be well managed. It must be noted i dont know any of these players, so it may be unfair of me to judge their ego's…...im just going off many many things i have heard.

As far as Dugans ego is concerned, he is still just a kid. He strikes me as a bit of a dumb kid who excells at something and has been cut a lot of slack because of it. Also because of the nature of Canberra, he is a massive fish in a very small pond.

It would do him good to get out of Canberra. It would be a dream come true for him at the Tigers and for that reason alone I cant see it happening. I really rate him as a fullback. In many ways he is a bit of an old fashioned fullback with many of the modern traits as well. I'd take him over Hayne.
