He knocked back a really good offer from the Knights. He's in the process of fine tuning his deal with us. Something to do with finalising the details of his second year. 2 year deal fwiw.

Cheers for the update

Just a pedantic side-note . . . . the short version of Eisenhuth is " Eiso". Has been so for 40 years that I know of.
Anyone living within the 2141/ 2143 postcodes over the years would probably have gone to school with, or worked with an Eiso.
Lovely people and a long lineage of football talent. Their block shaped head is a dead give-away, but great folks regardless.

Not wrong mate .. least Matt managed to beat the odds and get the tall gene

And he missed out on the curly hair!

PERSISTENCE PAYS OFF FOR TIGER

Wests Tigers lock Matt Eisenhuth is on the verge of re-signing.

The terms are still being finalised but the deal is likely to be for another two seasons.

The emergence of Eiso has opened up so many options for Cleary. The fact he has shown the ability to play an effective 80 minutes in the middle is astounding for a rookie. He tidies yp defensively, takes the hard hit ups, and has ball playing ability that will only get better the more he plays with the boys. With him playing 80 at lock, it means we can either play 2 hookers, or put a dynamic edge backrower on the bench to come on for impact.

Sorry to be pedantic, but he hasn't played 80 yet. I hope he does next year.

His stats say he played 72 mins last week but he was still on with 3 minutes to go. Not sure if he lasted the last 3 but thats good enough for me to say he played 80minutes. No way he came off st the 72 minute mark.

He had a dhort stint off at about the 68th minute mark..came back on at the end..

Played many 80min games in ISP …..he will be able to build that into the NRL...

Thanks. Seems odd to have such a short stint off. Seems a waste of an interchange as he appears to barely get tired. Will certainly be able to handle 80 minutes most weeks going by that. Twal appears to be able to play big minutes too.

Twal seems like the type who will play big minutes as well. We struck gold with these two. Saved us having to go out and find another bench prop.

If Liddle can play for 80 then we are set.

They have both been huge haven't they. I don't think props or modern locks can play 80 minutes consistently though.

Wests Tigers are pleased to confirm the re-signing of Matt Eisenhuth on a two-year deal that will keep him at the club until at least the end of the 2019 season.

Since making his first-grade debut earlier this season Eisenhuth has become a regular in Wests Tigers’ NRL side, making 10 appearances and earning a spot in the run-on side while averaging an impressive 117 metres and 35 tackles per game.

The former Australian Schoolboy expressed his delight to remain at Wests Tigers.

“For me, it was a pretty easy decision to extend my time here,” Eisenhuth said.

“This club stood by me and gave me a shot nobody else was and they rewarded me with a debut and constant first-grade, so in my mind, I wasn’t looking to go anywhere else.

“It’s been a long road and I’ve had some ups and downs,” he said. “I think I’ve been improving week in and week out, so I’m very happy to be here for the next couple of years.”

Wests Tigers Head Coach Ivan Cleary said he was pleased to see Eisenhuth remain at the Club, and looked forward to watching him take the next step in his career.

"On and off the field Matt has shown that he encompasses the values that the Wests Tigers are all about,” said Cleary. “I’m delighted that Matt will continue to develop his career here at Wests Tigers, he’ll be a highly valued member of the team into the future.”

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe echoed Cleary’s sentiments for Eisenhuth’s hard work and dedication.

“Since arriving at Wests Tigers, Matt has shown tremendous drive and desire to achieve what he has and I’m thrilled to see him sign on here,” Pascoe said.

“He has overcome a lot to get to where he is in the NRL, Matt thoroughly deserved his chance and it’s pleasing to see him continue to grow as a player on and off the field.

“Matt is a quality young man and we’re very pleased to have him in our organisation,” he said.
