Elijah Taylor joins Wests Tigers

Welcome aboard Elijah, can't wait to see you in our jersey.

Have to admit, JT and Pascoe have been able to bring in some representative calibre players in ET and Tim Grant. We need to credit them for that.

Our forward pack is shaping up beautifuly.
Woods, Grant, Lawerence, Sue, Ava are all quality.
Felise and Ailoai have shown they are potential guns in the making, whilst Lovett has improved and shown progression.

Add Taylor into the mix and you have yourself a quality forward pack.

We also have some promising young forwards i.e. Fine and Tatola on the 1st grade horizon.

On paper it looks like a really smart signing. Plugs a hole we needed filling.

However are people concerned he can't crack first grade at Penrith?

Whats happened to him as a footballer, why is he out of favour?

I think it's more a case of the current Coach preferring others..Penrith have a glut of backrowers….All Coaches have their favourites...rather than Elijah himself...

Watched him closely in the SC game televised on Sunday...Taylor made 50+ tackles and ran the ball strongly...

Welcome to the Tigers ET

Bit old now , but he still looks the goods and can hopefully gives the guys some top notch fishing tips and beauty tips

Wish we'd signed Elijah Taylor

Very good happy tiger I like that
But I think this kid being a brother from over the ditch , he knows how to fish and he will look good in a tigers strip
Fish and chips , and a bucket of wins thanks

Tiger Torch in his last post indicated that a well liked player could likely be leaving the club at the end of this season. I don't think that the player he was referring to would be Halatau, who is retiring this season, but it could be a forward such as Ava. In that case the club could be holding out on working out on Taylor's 2017 and beyond contract until this particular player's departure actually eventuates.

How's this
Woods , Farah , Grant
Sirro , Lawrence , Taylor
Ava , Sue , Alioa , Balin
JJ
I like it and I know Balin has not played but after a few games he will be back to his solid best

Very happy with this signing, if he can find some form with us, could be just what we needed, a second rower who can not only defend well but run some great lines, with a nack of finding the try line. I like the look of the packs everbody's posting although i just dont see taylor dropping Halatau before the younger guys.

Great news, can't wait to see him on the park.

Does this effect the 25 player cap. There were several posts on other threads relating to JT not being able to select 'x' player(s) on a weekly basis due to cap constraints.

Will this signing effect the progress of youngsters like JAC getting more game time this year?

This is the question ..is he on a second tier contract that would prevent his selection on a regular basis. The club should be a bit more transparent in this regard.

Cherrington.

Taylor's here for a couple years don't think for 1 minute he would only come for 14 games .

In the back row somewhere swag, and to think you doubted FT when he said a couple of weeks ago this signing would happen

I never said i doubted him i said i was not going to get to excited because i may never happen.

The fact that you are posting on this forum indeed proves that you did happen! Congrats
And well done to WT for securing ET, I just hope he gets along with JT.
Great signing….and one would hope it puts a fire up Sirro's clacker and motivates him to become the player many WT fans think he is capable of being. Or else let him go IMO.

I will be interested to see how JT brings him into the team, will,it be a slow transition through reserves or will he go straight to first grade bench then again injuries could actually dictates the induction. Whatever the scenario, looks,to,be a good signing a change of club will be positive for him, fingers crossed.

Well Done. I am hoping Cherringtons release was not tied to this as it may come back to be the dumbest recruitment decision have made.

In his interview I get the vibe he has been promised a start in firsts. Be very interested to see if he gets a bench spot in two weeks straight up. If so, i expect it will be at the expense of Aloiai?

Good move by Pascoe or Taylor or whoever arranged this deal, surely he goes straight into the team, I mean he is a better player than Halatau, Lovett and Aloiai, I would be moving Halatau out to fit him in.

They signed Trent Merrin to play in his position. He plays best as an 80 minute lock and Merrin plays big minutes at lock. On one edge the Panthers play Bryce Cartwright for 80 now and he doesn't offer close to what Cartwright does on the edge (attack-wise nobody in the competition does at the moment). On the other edge they have Peachey (who also offers plenty in attack) and they are also using Yeo, who has more utility value than Taylor (he covers the centres well).

So he's a good player that has been squeezed out of his preferred position by a rep level signing and is behind others when played out of his preferred position. No shame in that. We have a great need for him in his preferred position defending the middle for 80\. So win-win.
