**Club rejoins Balmain District for the 2010 Season**


Since 1912 Enfield Federals Rugby League Club has had a long and honourable history. It was one of the first junior rugby league teams in the western suburbs district. The club folded in the 90's but they are now ready to restart and become an integral part of the sporting and community life of the inner city.

Enfield Federals produced great rugby league players such as Jimmy Sedaris, Hazem El Masri and Robbie Farah.

Now the same opportunity is being offered to men, women, boys and girls of all ages. Membership is open to everyone. It is the Club's objective to enable all its rugby league players to perform at the highest standards they can attain. The Club will seek to provide support by creating high quality facilities and qualified coaching instruction for all playing.

Enfield Federals recognises the strategic role played by the Junior Rugby League in developing the sport of rugby league in the BDJRL. It will participate energetically in their activities and discussions and the Club will support in any way possible the players of the future of Enfield Federals.

The Enfield Federals will train and play out of Cooke Park, Madeline Street, Belfield and will shortly have their own website along with the other 10 clubs in the District. Great to see more teams coming into the Balmain District. In a time where junior comps have struggled it is good to see this happening

Balmain have amended the transfer rules to try and stop kids from moving clubs, It will be a struggle for Enfield unless they can attract kids from Canterbury. It will be a long road to establish the club if you only have a couple of youger teams but best of luck to Enfield, it would be fantastic to see some older teams 13+ to boost up the Balmain Junior League and to help the club along.

Strathfield didnt seem to find it a problem, though they are a breakaway from Conc/Bur…maybe Feds will similarly attract groups unhappy at current clubs

I used to love watching the Feds V Burwood Utd in the mid to late 80's….always a cracker of a game!! Back then they were in the Western Suburbs Junior League !! And as they had a similar jersey to the Magpies , they had a good following.
I remember watching the Cogger Brothers ( Trevor & John ) play for Berala Bears V Feds...I knew they would one day play first grade at Wests. :smiley:

I played footy with Johnny Cogger. Even though it was the tail end of his career and it was a couple of trial games. He put me through a small gap and I was out in the open and I have to admit I panicked because that usually doesnt happen to me and as I was about to get mowed down from behind I unselfishly passed the ball to a much faster guy who ran all the way to the try line. I was huffing and puffing for 20 minutes after that effort. Great guy off the field, I'm glad I got the chance to not only play some game with him but also get to know him a bit off the field.
