Hell I'm getting cynical but we always have time available about then

Nah, fully booked up till Oct this year. The gf can be a faux testamonial.

@Tiger_Steve There is a criteria and Robbie and Benji fail it because they didn't play their careers at one club, apparently you can only bend the rules for Thurston.

Don’t know how Greenberg sleeps at night. How can he justify breaking the rule for one and not another?

Both Marshall and Farah are former internationals, premiership winners and, in Marshall’s case, once judged the best player in the world. Neither has ever disgraced rugby league off the field ..... unlike others afforded testimonial games or letters of recommendation. Greenberg needs a rocket - I wonder the best way to embarrass the NRL into giving these guys what they deserve?

Marshall played Union .....don't blame the NRL , they didn't make him do that

So what?

So what?

Are you kidding ...he has played the opposition code CK

And you think the NRL should organize or fund a testimonial ....

I hate the NRL as much as the next bloke but this is pure hypocrisy

Robbie deserves one more than Benj ....get the NZRL and NZRU to fund Benji's

Did the NRL fund the smirh/thurston one or did they just allow it to happen and not affect their cap?

The NRL didn't organise or fund it, just allowed the $ to be outside the cap!

Wouldn't the two clubs organise it like any trial game?

Dunno that’s why I asked ..
Surely the NRL would have to sanction it ?
The whole games a rort imo

Consistency Toddy - ever hear of it? No I guess you wouldn't have. Same as you have never heard of fairness.

I am not saying Benji and Robbie should have a Testimonial. You have denied them both the opportunity to have one. Fair enough. Not sure of the grounds for the denial.

Maybe they had to play for the one club, as they both did not I can't argue with you on that. However as Thurston played for Canterbury as well as the Cowboys - doesn't that fall into the same category?

As for Smith - wouldn't part of the criteria be "this player has not brought the game and himself into disrepute? Would signing two contracts and cheating the cap fall into this category Toddy?

What I am saying is - not that the Tigers players should have a Testimonial. I am saying that the other two should not as well.

Seeing as you have already granted Smith and Thurston the OK then t he Tigers players should fall under the same rule.

If you don't do this then I and others would not be incorrect to assume that you are showing favoritism to some and not others as with the Laurie Daley coaching affair. All of this plus other incidents could almost be considered "CHEATING"

What is your answer Toddy -will you stand down?

The NRL don’t need to organise or fund anything... testimonials are always in trial games.

@hobbo1 The clubs, it was a trial game that the clubs promoted as a testimonial and allowed the 2 players to share the proceeds.

Cheers...
I can’t remember when it was as I thought it was a joke and refused to watch it .

@hobbo1 Was sanctioned by the NRL, The NRL also allowed the money to be outside the salary cap.

Needed to be sanctioned by the NRL though...Clubs can't just do it of their own bat..

Yeah me too, I do not believe in testimonials but would support them if they were a charity match instead. Proceeds can go to a charity of the players choosing!

@Geo yes it needs to sanctioned by the NRL and approval gained. The Tigers were denied approval.

Imagine taking dirty hit - ups all game knowing Scam Smith pockets all the proceeds .

Do you work for the NRL ?
You seem to be clued up ...

@hobbo1 No lol, weirdly enough the Salary Cap interest me and I spend a fair amount of time researching and reading up on it. I've even read legal papers that discuss the salary cap as a restraint of trade (in all likelihood it isn't).

Yes I'm a nerd, but I'm a cool nerd!
