Farah injured, in doubt for round one

5\. Addo-Carr/Hunt
6\. Rankin
7\. Moses
9\. Littlejohn
14\. Cherrington

IMO

I like the idea of this in that I think Littlejohn is probably a better defensive player than Rankin, but I worry that it involves shifting two players out of position given they've had Rankin training in the outside backs and Littlejohn in the halves. I also think we might up with too much reliance on the kicking game of Moses with this formation.

It might be getting a little elaborate but we could for example have Rankin at hooker in attack and defending on the wing, and Chee Kam attacking on the wing and defending in the middle. Or I may have just turned into Tim Sheens…

With Robbie, Ballin and Halatau out. Everyone will be thinking like Sheens

I just read something from someone who claimed that the injury could be as long as 6 months depending on how he wants to treat it

The source - Farah himself

Did he elaborate any further?

Just that if he takes the 6 weeks he'll playing through pain

Impressive.
Farahs twitter follower's get more exclusive news than WTS members.
Just a long as he does what's best for the team.

The ghost of Sheens enters the forum…geesh...

Wielder reports Farah out 6 weeks...Operation tomorrow..

Like for like please...

Most first graders would be playing with pain every week.
If it is just a pain issue then he played through major pain for NSW last year with his busted shoulder so you would think he would be willing to bust his arse for his beloved club, or so you would hope.

Dealing with knee pain week in week out for a player who has to bend down every single tackle is a big ask. Will make him even slower out of dummy half too. Have the reconstruction Robbie

yep Robbie is gone for 6 weeks.

If Cherry starts v the Warriors look at the positive side. His quick service from dh will help run their big pack around. Might work in our favour. We just have to make sure to play good field position & keep hold of the footy. Will be a good test that's for sure.

When is Ballin due back?

"Cherrington toured England with the New Zealand side at the end of last year, but is still unable to play 80 minutes. Liddle is still eligible for the Holden Cup, and while only small, a few good judges have been impressed with his toughness. Kyle Lovett could be a stop-gap solution, while Farah quipped ‘’Justin Hunt had put his hand up to play there during the cruise on Sunday night’’."

Maybe a week or 2 after Farah. So they should be back around the same time.

Cherro at 9 with a utility or Liddle as back-up on bench has to be the way to go. I like the idea of Cassell filling in.

Woods and Grant are going to need to stand up to help out Cherro in the middle.

I am a Farah critic but one thing I will is that he can usually handle his own in defense.

Damn. We need a solid defensive hooker v Warriors big men.
With Rob, Ballin and Halatau out, Manaia will have a rough day at the office.

Hope it is 35 degrees control possession and run them around

Well I'd rather we replace like for like. Play liddle & cherry in the 17\. Littlejohn & Moses in the 1/2s, Rankin on the wing. The boys will need to play mistake-free footy & hold as much possession as possible.

I haven't seen Liddle play yet, is he as good as some of the forumers have made him out to be?

Liddle by name little by nature.
He's pretty small we'll get trounced through the middle, we do now with Farah there.

Bigger than Cherington, almost Robbies size, is a big hooker

Robbie Farah’s knee injury leaves Wests Tigers coach Jason Taylor struggling for options
February 22, 20168:28pm
CHRISTIAN NICOLUSSI - The Daily Telegraph

ROBBIE Farah revealed how he heard a “pop’’ in his knee that has now forced him out of the opening six rounds of the season for the Wests Tigers.

Farah will undergo surgery on Tuesday morning after scans confirmed he had a lateral meniscus tear in his right knee, which he suffered during the Tigers’ final trial against Cronulla on Saturday night.

It is the worst possible news for the joint venture whose experienced dummy-half options Matt Ballin and Dene Halatau are also unavailable for the opening-round clash against the New Zealand Warriors because of injury and suspension respectively.

Tigers coach Jason Taylor will now turn to Manaia Cherrington and possibly 19-year-old rookie Jacob Liddle to try and stop gun No.9 Issac Luke in his first game for his new club.

While fans will be gutted by the Farah injury news just 12 days out from the start of their campaign, Taylor would have been the most disappointed given the need for his club to start well for the sake of his job.

After the botched attempt to move Farah along, Taylor has found himself under intense pressure to produce early results, which won’t be easy now without his most experienced player.

Given halfback Luke Brooks will also be missing through suspension for the clash against the Warriors at Campbelltown Sports Stadium, the TAB pushed the Tigers’ price out from $2.75 to $3.

Farah told The Daily Telegraph he had heard a noise in his knee, the same one he ruptured his ACL in 2004.

“I got tackled and my leg got twisted, and that’s when I heard the pop in the knee,’’ Farah said.

“I got up and I was able to run it off, and it wasn’t until I cooled down I knew something was wrong.

“But the scans came back showing a meniscus tear. I’ll get some of it cut out. I could have had it repaired, but that would have meant four to six months on the sideline.

“It’s disappointing because I’d been feeling really good, and I got through three to four months of hard work in the pre-season, I’d been happy with some parts of my trial form, and I’d been working hard on my game, especially with (attacking coach) Craig Sandercock who has taken control of our attack.

“Unfortunately now I’ll have to wait, and I’ll just work hard to come back as soon as possible.’’

Farah avoided alcohol as pre-caution during a harbour-cruise on Sunday night for the club’s season launch.

Cherrington toured England with the New Zealand side at the end of last year, but is still unable to play 80 minutes. Liddle is still eligible for the Holden Cup, and while only small, a few good judges have been impressed with his toughness. Kyle Lovett could be a stop-gap solution, while Farah quipped ‘’Justin Hunt had put his hand up to play there during the cruise on Sunday night’’.

Taylor looked genuinely relieved in recent months to finally move on from the Farah drama, so it’s crummy luck that same player will now be unavailable.

“If you can’t roll with the punches with this sort of stuff, and stay positive about what we have to do and how we’re going to go about it, you’re better off not being in the role,’’ Taylor said.

“It does make it tougher, and it’s now up to us to work out how we replace him.’’

I do not think that they will pick Liddle, mainly due to 2nd tier cap implications and the fact Halatau will be back round 2 to support cherrington. I do not like the idea of Drinkwater. Hunt or Rankin are options, but Cassel and Lovett have also been mentioned and may be able to fill in for 15 mins each half.

I don't think that the fans are gutted. 50% want no Farah & 50% want a poor start so that Taylor is shown the door.

The one good thing about our club is that we are a tight knit group and as much as this is a setback it gives certain players more added responsibility. Time to step up to the plate Simona, Sironen, Lawrence and Sue.
I have no doubt we can win this one but if we don't we go down fighting boys!!!!!

This is a big loss for the Club , we are going to be at least 40 tackles worst off.

This was JT's wish from the start in Farah not being part of his plans , JT would have never wished such bad luck for Farah but the dance floor is clear for JT and for us to get a snippet of what we would of expected .

Some would say it's Farah's Karma as one of my mates said to me Today.

I've never heard of a meniscus tear taking 4-6 months to heal with surgery

And I've never heard of a clean out taking 6 weeks to recover from

And before all the Dr smart alec comments come , I have 4 cleanouts and had the meniscus removed as well as everything else you can possibly imagine
