Farah needs to put the club first in 2017

Tiger man you have it all wrong. Farah has been an excellent servant for the club. Reading between the lines of what is stated above he will be overseas next year. This is the ideal situation as we have seen his successor handle 40mins of first grade with a solid game last week is to keep balin on board as he is costing a quarter of farahs wage next year. He is the ideal player to assist with improving this teams culture and mentoring liddle as he is a proven winner, down to earth and a extremely dedicated and committed individual. As mentioned above this also allows farahs wage to be spread amongst the playing group improving the balance of the squad. Also gives ET a decent enough increase to stay as he is only 24 and still on the rise.
I think farah has finally turned a corner because this decision is one of the most unselfish choices his made.
Full credit if it comes to light and I wil be happily sending him off a winner at leicharrdt oval round 26.

I wondered when Liddle would be lifted to the throne of the " he's the future " players.
I hope you are right.
But you could use the same post , with just liddle's name replaced with Cherrington, and it could be identical with a host of mostly the same people's posts last year.
40 minutes of first grade doesn't make a first grader, even though he did go well in his first chance in first grade.
Cherrington was the flavour of the month last year, with every bit of conviction as there is now for Liddle
Before he's anointed as our Savior , how about we wait to see how he goes in a few runs in the top grade. He could make it, but he's still mostly an unknown proposition
Does anyone here remember Cherrington, he was dropped from favour like a hot scone.

My memory might be hazy but we started with cherrington and won 2/2\. Then he hasnt been seen again. Ive heard we are shopping him around, but wouldnt havr a clue what happened there.

You asked for it and I'm going to deliver it.
This year
3/9 Wins with Farah
4/8 Wins without….
Hows your math?

66.6 % of those with him coming off the bench….

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Including rep games, he's won 4 games games all year. I can't see how we would go well without him.

Oh by the way whom was captain when WT lost by 50 points earlier in the year, I was OS at the time so missed the action (or lack of)?

I'm new to this forum so Im not sure how to submit a post in direct response to another post but in answer to GCT Friday 9:4pm.
It depends how many games of football you've watched of the 2 players.
You are right about cherrington. He looked good in the 20s games still looked sharp at times in nsw cup. But I did notice alot of times where he was many handled in defence. He played with a lot of confidence a lot of skill in attack but at times I noticed he was looking disinterested, went in and out of games. Well it filtered through into first grade.
The you watch liddle, aus schoolboy hooker out of default, didnt have any of the raps cherrington has. No one thought he'd be considered an option but the way he sees and plays the game, he just does the right things right. He doesnt try chip and chases or 40 20s but he chases a winger that's made a break and pushes him over the sideline. His played as much 2nd grade as cherrington now and looks right a home. The kid is humble committed and willing to learn. Great values for a footballer, some of which are qualities hard to find in most kids.
In summary, cherrington is the ideal replacement for farah, you lose nothing with skill his defence will pick up and I'm sure he'll be the long term nz hooker once he comes of age.
Liddle is the other option, more like a cam smith, Andrew mculoghck or matt balin. And if you've been blind to see it this sort of player is the preferred option for the direction the club wants to head.
And I support this decision.
Would still be great if cherrington wanted to stick around and fill in off the bench next year but I don't think he would be happy playing second fiddle to a 19yr old.

Agree about liddle….still needs another pre season and full season in grade before you can declare him as the future. If robbie and cherringyon leave we may be a hooker short in 2017, but could always manufacture one like little-john if things don't work out with liddle/ballin.

For me, Liddle seems to play at a good consistent level throughout the game (only watched him live once, and the televised games of 20s and state cup) whereas our other hookers don't play at an even level.

Cherrington does tend to drift in and out while Robbie tends to be rocks and diamonds. (Ballin hasn't played for us really.)

Robbie need go anywhere next year, he is contracted, we owe him money and while I'd like him to leave I can't begrudge him if he doesn't, it's his right. But he'll likely be seeing less and less playing time as Liddle is groomed for the position.

I'm not saying that Liddle won't make it, it wasn't even a comment on Liddle.
It was a comment about how we elevate one person to almost future star position , miles before he's ready for first grade, then when he shows he's nowhere near the answer to our prayers, we move on to the next Annointed one, who is equally prematurely hailed as our next star,
I don't really care if we eventually buy a good hooker , or get one from another club , as long as he's good , and ready for first grade
Liddle may in time prove to be the answer, but I think il wait before I jump on the bandwagon .
I just hope that if Farah does leave that we don't rely on a 33 yr old hooker with two suspect knees, who has only played a handful of minutes since mid 2015

Agree, it happens too often, I think the inept team performances in recent years has made some fans hope for a change and look to the future, the difference this time is the timing of it, it maybe similar to Luke brooks taking on the reins from Benji. And it has takien Luke at least 2 years to show us something to be excited about it. At the end of the day farah is coming to the end of his career, if we manage to replace him with someone inhouse it just makes the fans feel a little bit more fuzy inside, just the way it is with the tigers and other teams who grow their talent, you somewhat feel more connected.
If next year, both farah and halatal retire and balin is not recovering as expected someone like a Kurt baptize or a Matt mcilwik would be good pick ups, or any of the gold Coast backups. We are going to need to pick up another one anyway as if we lose the two mentioned above and cherrington we'll have no depth and will at least need to pick a hooker up for state cup. I do hope liddle kicks on, but in a way I hope if his given a chance the coaching staff stick with him, I don't think it would be worthwhile for us and him with him drifting in and out of grade unless of course farah stays, that then is a different story.

We have a chance to make semis.

Now with no further distractions I presume Woods and Teddy will also need to do the same. If you want the best chances for WT you should be deriding what happened to Teddy in last SOO.

The ones whom really need the advice are those in the defence dept of WT - and they don't like Robbie and Robbie is the best defender we have - can you fill in the missing dots?

And when Robbie was capt he got prickly when things did not go right but that is not allowed anymore, it was like being abusive to children. Maybe he was telling the defence dept off as well and that is why they did not like him. But the BIg Bad Wolf is not capt anymore and everyone has been handed tissues and told bedtime stories and will live happily ever after.

Not that you can easily compare across positions but I don't think even Farah would claim he is "the best defender we have".

Hahahaha… Tackle count = best defender.
You clearly have no idea of our defensive issues BBF.
You're so far off the mark it's funny

Whoever we decide to go with, we need Farah to move on in 2017\. At least then we can get a long hard look at Liddle and Cherro (if he's still there) and make a decision.
Having Robbie around just stifles any forward thinking at the hooker position.
Ballin can then be the veteran back up to assist with their development, he seems like such a better bloke than Farah

By the way this bye week is killing me. I don't mind the fact that we get a rest and 2 points but I'm missing watching the Tigers this weekend!

After he plays his game and a half next year , who's the hooker then. ???
I'm glad we are now picking our players on who is a nice bloke( not sure how most of us know that) instead of who's the best player.

Sorry MM, but actually Farah doesn't need to do Anything. As long as he fulfills the Contract as was written and signed by this club

At least there is an end game with this guy even if it at the end of next season ,it can not come quick enough for many of us!
