There are reports that the Wests Tigers have insufficient funds to make a lump-sum termination payment to Robbie Farah.

The club is seeking to make periodic payments instead, with the amount to be paid remaining a subject of contention between the Wests Tigers and his future club.

The Rabbitohs have largely been the frontrunners in the race to sign Farah, with the Sharks also reportedly expressing interest following the retirement of Michael Ennis at season's end.

Ok, can see the delay now, Farah wants the Wests portion of his contract up front. That's a fair position from a negotiation stand point.

Would seriously doubt the club or one of the stakeholders does not have the cash available right now. Essentially it is a time value of money preference that both parties have to negotiate.

If he was sacked, ABSOLUTELY he should be paid immediately in full. But he hasnt been sacked.

If he was staying, he would be getting monthly payments like all players. Why should he get a lump sumpayment, yet the clubs commitments are still being counted in next years cap? You cant have one witnout the other. Sorry.

If the clubs that want him are smart, they should be offering a 1 yr contract, at the lowest possible cost to them , and next year give him an extension at the right money for the next year. That'd make tTigers pay out the bulk of the money owed and Farah would get a new contract through next year.May be that's what happening already.

Yeah I agree Swordy. Since when does a player being moved on have the right to a lump sum payment? Is that how these arrangements normally work, and why is it our clubs financial details are always being "leaked" to the media?

If true, you'd think that the club would have checked the bank account Before. Trying to boot someone out, not much sense in turning the club upside down and then finding out that the Piggy Bank hasn't got enough money in it to pay him out.

How does a player receive his contract money anyhow? Is it lump sum at the start of the season or monthly payments or whatever? If it is the latter then WT surely aren't obligated to pay a lump sum?
Wish to Christ he would just hurry up a sign somewhere else, had absolute respect for the way RF busted his guts for our club over many years but it is just a toxic vibe around this whole schemozzle now the sooner it is over the better for all parties.
