But Farah 's supposed to make it all hunky Dory for the club. They either want him or they don't
If they can't afford to pay what's needed to move him on, well they shouldn't have gone down that track.
Like every single other player ever to leave their club early, they are entitled to continued payments as per the original contract (being topped up) and the salary cap. NOT a lump sum. Simple.
But it's not remotely simple, though, because Farah can say he wants a lump sum to leave and if he doesn't get it he's not going to sign anywhere else. The club can then pay him monthly (or whatever) per his contract until this time next year. The problem being, of course, that following the letter of the contract is categorically not the outcome the club is seeking - which is why it potentially has to negotiate.
100% agree. But he can ask for whatever he wants. Doesnt mean he gets it. As i said, id like nothing more than to accomodate a lump sum if thats what he wants. If the club wants the payment plan, which is exactly what they are entitled to do, then Robbie is exactly entitled to stay and play reggies. I dont think anyone really wants that.
Robbie can also negotiate a lump sum LESS than his entitlement too. That might make the club interested and meet him there.
But to say he is automatically entitled to a lump sum if he moves elsewhere is simply wrong.
He's already said that he won't move unless he gets his money .
It's up to him as to what way it will be, otherwise he can (as you say) play in reserves,
If that's the case , it's bye , bye to using any of the money they want to save. Maybe they should have thought about things a little bit more.
As I said before, Keystone Cops stuff.
