It's time he gave origin away after this year anyway.

$90k a series suggests Robbie will play as long as he can

It wouldn't be the money for Farah , it's more about pride .
He wouldn't give it up , he's to stubborn .

there is no reason for him to give away origin unless he's given the tap on the shoulder- he deserves to be there until he retires.

The only reason would be his supposed love of the club.

I think us taking some on-field responsibilities from him hasn't helped his desire. If he was still the big cheese I'd say he'd play, but now he's just playing 9 there's not as much motivation

Tigers is guaranteed money, no matter what. Origin is a bonus cheque each game. $50K per game I believe? The Tigers can keep paying me while Im chasing that extra $150K per year.

In saying that, wasn't Robbie labelled back in the day "Not tough enough for Origin footy?" No wonder they lost 8 in a row.

30.000 per game Chris.

There's no supposed about it. Robbie is a great clubman. :sign:
It's a great honour to be chosen to play SOO. He should'nt give it up unless he wants too.

Yeah that just annoys me. Plays no games for tigers over the entire origin period so that he can play 2 games for nsw with that injury. Stupid. That injury will be worse after origin 3 and bet he misses heaps more club games because of it

What use is being tough when it's to the detriment of the club you captain?

Origin is currently the pinnacle of Rugby League. Who has the right to take that away from a player?

It's so low to suggest Farah is playing with injury because he wants the Origin for the money. The bloke has put his body on the line so often for Tigers and now NSW, if he really wanted top dollar he'd be sunning himself on the Gold Coast as we speak.

Another reason to move origin to years end.

Might be a reason but it's not going to happen. No way will they risk playing with the formula that is raking in millions.

That's ridiculous, I understand the importance of origin and I get you want to play every available game, but to play with that kind of injury isn't brave its plain dumb.
He has an obligation to his club also and what's the end result going to be play origin 3 then have a lay off for an extended period to get it right?
Not a fan of this sort of thing at all especially when a huge chunk of your cap is involved in it.
I'll wait with baited breath to see if he comes up against the panthers and after origin , that will be the true tale of the story.

I agree that he should only give it up when he wants to. It's his career. I'm saying lots of players have given it up to concentrate on their club footy. I don't think he puts his club commitments up that high.

Would it have been a different story if Wests Tigers were at this stage of the season semi-final contenders?

It would be a sorry state of affairs if anyone at the club thought we were out of the race.

Bloody well should.

I agree and I floated this idea a few months ago without any backing. Injuries to players during internationals and State of Origin should not adversely impact a team's second tier cap. In this case, payments from the second tier cap to cover Farahs replacement should not be counted towards the second tier cap in my opinion.

You still run the risk of injury to the player during a rep match which is unavoidable, but at least the team isn't screwed twice over by exhausting the second tier cap too.

Doing the same thing for the 9s might also be a bit of an incentive for clubs to send some better players over for that tournament too, but I can't see clubs rushing to send their stars to the 9s on that basis alone.

I don't think that's fair compensation.

If you're paying a player like Farah, Thurston, Smith etc big money and they sustain an extended injury outside club footy, they should be duly compensated for the big money player. Isn't the rule that if you're selected for origin you are generally required to accept the call up (I vaguely remember this being said when Lyon walked away from rep footy years ago,) and if that is to be the case, then the NSWRL and QRL can foot the bill for big money injuries.

"All care, no responsibility" is all the rage these days, and unfortunately the NRL is no different.
