I think young Florimo could be a real smoky next season for a shot at 1/2..the kid can defend / tough/has the best kicking game iv'e seen for a long time /and throws a nice pass and has improved heaps this season .He rates a lot higher for me than Lui because he has a better overall package .Thoughts

If either Lui or Tamauta don't make a fist of the half position this year then we MUST bite the bullet and buy a recognised half for 2011!!..

True yes buy an organising half we really can only dream of that ..I was talking from an in house perspective

he has really improved in the last 12 months. i thought the 20s would really struggle without lui and nichols leading them around this year, bodie clarke was a center and florimo seemed a solid half, but nothing flash.

however this year both halves have really impressed. florimo seems like a real natural halfback. too early for firsts and better options atm but gee we do have some depth in the position

Florimo has improved as the season has gone on but I don't think he's a realistic chance of playing FG this season. If he keeps improving though, well who knows, but Moltzen and Lui are ahead of him by a mile at the moment.

I don't know about that.

I think Sheens motive is to exhaust all opportunities at halfback so he can slot his dream halfback Fitzy in there so you may well see Florimo get a shot.

a natural halfback? no way he will get a run then …. sheens may use him at hooker or winger for a few minutes a game, but no, a natural halfback doesn't fit into our game plan, too much organisation, and a kicking game? wests tigers would not know what to do with a kicking game, we have blundered on the last 5 years without one ....................

Spot on.

 Florimo has a long way tro go before he's a natural Halfback….

Looks good on TV though..

Benji converting 2/5, thats the full extent of the Tigers kicking game.

Florimo has improved a lot, but Lui is on a different level IMO. Lui is a better runner, passer, and kicker.

If Florimo makes it to first grade I think it will be at dummy half.

Is Florimo related to Greg?

Yes,it is his son, they played 1 year together on the central coast before he came to the WestsTigers last season.

Like most red heads he is a competitive and tough, but miles away from 1st, although you never know he has come on leaps and bounds from last year, probably needs a couple of years pumping iron

He has improved alot since the first few games.

Long way to go though. But he seems to be the kind of guy in it for the long haul. He and Woods are regulars at State Cup games as well

i really like jay and think he does have what it takes to play FG this year. i feel at the moment with injuries to the halves and him playing in the cowboys trial, starting in front of arana, that tim sees him as an option there for sure. i think he is best suited at the 7 for the moment but would not surprise me if he can make an impact of the bench at the nrl level and play a role which is more like a second dummy half. if taumata and lui are both out for the souths game i wouldnt mind sheensy thrusting him straight into the 7 jersey allowing robbie to go back to his natural posisition and we all no he is an aggressive kid and wont take a backward step in leading the team around the park. also great defender so he wont be defending out on the wing

I have only seen him live in one game, against the Raiders. Based on that I don't think he is up to standard in defence as their big boys ran through him easily the entire second half. I don't want to see the Lazzo experiment all over again just yet.

I dont rate Florimo. Nothing jumps out at me about him. Moltzen long term half. I was reluctant at first but wouldn't mind seeing Mullaney get a go at FB. Still a little small but good GK and fairly pacey.

I have always thought Florimo would end up as a Hooker more than at Half if he was to make first grade. Though i will be the first to admit his performances this year at 7 have improved from a few games he played there last year.
