For anyone bagging Hastings

Absolutely crazy...from us and the Knights.

The Knights actually wanted Brooks...who would have been a colossal disaster in their spine, especially with their injuries.

Even worse...we insisted Brooks stayed.

Monumental stupidity on both teams parts...

Knights ended up with Jacko, who is the perfect bloke for that club's spine.

And we ended up with Brook's ineptitude, and a coach who will sink the ship staying with him, yet again.

Raiders showed it doesn't matter who is in the 17 if the players turn up with the right attitude and put their shoulders in.
Well, it does. Their pack turned up with that attitude...and energy. But it was backed up by their 7 steering the ship, good kicks, giving them breathing time and controlling the game.

Our pack have had to constantly race back for 20 m resets as our 7 kicks dead, or into legs, or passes into runner's heads.

That energy needs a controlling half to allow you to maintain it.

Their 7 is no world beater and put an out of the blue good performance.

Their star player was off this week.

It's too simplistic to point the finger at one bloke. They were good 1 to 17 its a team sport. Our 1 to 17 have not been putting in like the Raiders never seen them play that hard

We were paying out Knights & the Dragons,
not knowing we would be reliving a damn
nightmare. Sheens, CEO, the board, Brooks,
Don't even know where to start with this lot
Anybody who didn't know it was going to be a mare was asleep at the wheel

I'd really like a journo to properly press Sheens on the Hastings matter. The guys on NRL 360 don't delve into enough detail apart from just saying Brooks needs a change of scenery, Tigers suck, Hastings has issues with Bateman etc.

Why not:

"Tim, in the offseason you insisted Jackson Hastings was a lock and rebuffed Newcastle's interest in Luke Brooks, choosing to continue to name him in the 7 despite years of uninspiring performances. Hastings has been a revelation for Newcastle and has lead them to a spot in the top 8 with numerous different halves partners, while Brooks' struggles have continued and only now you've identified the need for a halfback. Why is Jackson succeeding at 7 and do you think you made a mistake in letting him go?"

If you look at what Jacko does throughout the game ,he is in everything from guiding the troops to putting in a challenge and winning it ....

WHAT DOES BROOKS DO and what has he done for 10 years...BUGGER ALL but live off the hype of his debut....

looking at you Paws and Snidest...

They are fit. They just aren't playing well.
To me the majority of them always appear to be unfit. Line speed and getting back to marker are so slow. You can see them trying to get into marker but they just seem to lack any energy to get there quick enough. Once the opposition gets some momentum through the middle of the field we more often than not concede points. There have been times where they look out on their feet not even halfway through the first half.

And Jedi too.

I just simply don't get it.... Jacko was clearly the leading half at WT in 2022... gosh we'd be so much more excited heading into tomorrow if we still had him. All we're gonna get tomorrow is frantic hot potato and a crap ton of points against us...

I don't know how we are going to go tomorrow. I'm going to be hopeful that we perform well and Brooks and Doueihi kill it.

Hastings was though clearly our best half last season and the club led by Sheens and his merry band either completely stuffed up the decision to let him go or there was a lot more to why they let him go. The unknown reason has to also be something significant because coaches/managers job is to make people work together.

Earl - always nice to have hope but so dangerous when it comes to our tigers! I try to temper my expectations so as not to feel too depressed going into a new week.

I think part of my frustration with hastings as it has been with so many decisions is the complete lack of transparency from the club and the willingness to treat its supporters like morons.
