Forward stocks look promising

@Jimmy He is good but I don't see the size or speed or line breaking ability that means he will be a top level prop. Aloiai and Mikaele have more ability to get us going forward than Twal does.

i think forwards are going well we cant carry another hooker on bench so its Liddles time to sit down until next year we need the 4 forwards on the bench

Haven't missed Packerlino at all, in fact we've improved without them.
Just shows how ordinary they are really.

Can't wait till they're gone to be honest, one if the worst buys for us imo.

TBH, I would much prefer that Matulino and Packer be fully fit and available for the run to the finals. Whether Madge would pick them is beside the point.

We have been owned by top 8/4 teams and one win against north qld and they are champs. Sorry but no. We need 3 forwards on the bench and an X factor player. The current crop doesn’t allow this.

We are a couple of forwards short.

I think most people would agree - and are agreeing.

Our pack is average. Fringe top 8 pack. Twal is solid, aloiai and Mikaele have the potential to be great but are still a way for f consistency. They need to be able to dominate strong packs.

We have the weakest back row in the league, a couple of semi solid wide players, depending where we play matto. Lawrence, garner and mck would most certainly not be starting for any other team. Garner has potential, mck is a bench player, can only make an impact on the final 20 mins against tired players.
We also don't have a single decent forward prospect in our youth setup. Seyfarth is a way off.
We need a lot of improvement

@balmain-boy Some common sense , the forward pack is average at best ,talk about getting carried away with beating an average bottom 4 team . When these guys front the heavy weight forward packs they go to mush ! ,there needs to be a lot more injection of talent to this pack yet to be able to compete with the top 6 sides.

The pack is still some way off. But I do give them credit for stepping up in the absence of our two big money forwards. It also is advantageous when Madge runs a four forward bench and doesn't run them into the ground.

They keep putting in and besting whomever is in front of them with consistency we can start getting excited.

Best post in the thread.

We are 3 good forwards off being a good pack. I would have our pack in the bottom 3 in the competition and our backrow is the worst in the competition. It may sound negative, but run through the packs and you would swap out our in a heartbeat.

I believe Seyfarth will be in the mix at the start of next season. A big off season under Maguire will see him transform his physique.

We need to upgrade Clarke, Eiso, Garner, Lawrence, Matulino, Packer over time when we get cap space.

Matterson, Aloai, Twal, Mikalele should be our middle rotation for a very long time.
We need to target forwards in the mould of JWH in the middle and a Kikau on an edge. A prop, edge back rower of high quality and the pack is strong.

They have stood up and are holding their own which is good seeing their lack of experience

But we need 2 props and a back rower better than what we currently have to take the next step

Looking through the forward rosters of most other teams it is clear that ours is off the pace. At best, most of our forwards would be possible bench players in the top sides. To compete we need big mobile props with a bit of footwork that can break through the advantage line and offload, and backrowers with some pace and skills. Look at the Raiders - Bateman and Tapine - these guys are causing so much trouble out wide. The game has evolved so much since the days of overweight lugs in the forwards that were basically hitting the ball up and tackling. Now the quality guys are 110 plus kg athletes that sprint like backs with footwork and ball skills!

@TYGA

Agreed, however I'd be looking to replace the guys in the NRL squad that aren't getting NRL time eg Packer, Mats, McQueen, Rochow and hold on to the others such as Clarke, Lawrence, Garner and Eiso as back up. 2 quality props and a 1 backrower would turn our pack around and make a huge difference. Of course it's easy to say this, but where do we find them and how do we pay for them?
Also even if we could achieve this we also need a 5/8, at least one centre, a winger and possibly a fullback.

Sounds like you just want a new team Lol.
