@TYGA

That's my point - the guys I mentioned are not playing first grade - but I still believe changing only 2-3 players out of our 30 man roster is not going to do the job. Unfortunately with our cap issues, unless we can trade out of guys like Packer, Mats, Reynolds, Jennings, McQueen etc, we won't have the money to upgrade effectively and it may take 2 seasons to get where we need to be with our roster.

I agree. Contracts are really bad I think it takes two seasons we are stuck. Jennings I wouldn’t move he’s on a relatively small contract and has come in with no offseason. I’d give him another season. The others are older and not getting better. I was saying earlier Mbye is the only player that could be moved as he has value.
Moving players is hard when no one wants them.

@happy_tiger I think your 1.3 million estimate is a bit on the high side.

Packer 700 k + , Matulino was in the 600's , we overpaid

With some hope,'i think we can medically retire Matulino. Reckon he will cooperate whereas Reynolds and Packer don't want to.

@Bula Losing that guy so early in his career was a tragedy for him and our club. Same could be said for TT who used to terrorise wingers. I still remember that grub from the eels (Smith I think) crippling him while he was being held.

Hows that ..concentrate on the important stuff , Hobbo's starting to slowly curl up in a familiar position during an Ashes series

Matterson has done well at lock but I think that position is a waste his ball playing skills. I think he would have more impact playing like Wade Graham as an extra play maker that can also do everything a good edge forward does.

With a fast agile 9 like Liddle, we would be better of with a Cameron Murray style player at lock, a good defender with some speed that specialises in getting a fast play the ball. Lock is a less important position that can be filled in a few different ways.

I agree Matto is our best edge forward, and Melbourne who are the benchmark have Finucan, with the running ball players on the edges.
Our problem is the lack of good forwards around Matto

Pretty sure matto didn't want to play in the middle. Also I think with a big offseason one of our starting props next year will be mikale. I would like to see twal play 13

Huth has the passing skills and size, Madge just needs to find out how to make him angry and sprint at the line in attack

I really think between Matterson, Aloiai, Garner, Huth, Chee Kam, Lawrence (he’s presumably a very cheap backup) and even potentially Marsters, we are pretty well covered for the back 3 in our pack
Front rower is more the issue, assuming no Packerlino which I think is best for all concerned, then it’s Twal, Mikaele and Clarke. That needs some help, at least one given Huth and/or Aloiai are moveable pieces
I can’t believe I’m saying our pack needs just one quality prop but I am, but it should be a big aggressive leader style that we hoped Packer was going to be for us and maybe has been on a few occasions, just not enough
Our needs are more in the backs I’d say, so rather than buy two new props I'd go with one and spend whatever we might have out wider

We're not that far off as a club.

Need a few or two, some speed put wide and Madge to get them going

@hodgo depends on the price, he's versatile if he's reasonable which I reckon he would be, plus he's still got a year to run
