Fullback Recruit

Seriously anyone.

We are so far behind every other club in terms of what their fullback brings is not even funny.

I agree but get accused of bashing Tui, he is under performing I think, or maybe that is as good as it gets. Either way you are bang on, his form was pretty ordinary again yesterday, we need his goal kicking, but at what cost

He isn't even really making any mistakes. Its not that.

I thin its more fullbacks in 2018 have to be dynamic. When you kick it to them on the full you, expect will them to charge back and get over the advantage line. When you run a sweep play, you expect to be worried that they are going to be on the end of it. Tui not only is doing none of this, but even if he is he looks uncapable as he is so far off the pace (his touch of the ball is just 2-3 times off NRL level). When he gets it he looks slow and sluggish, and sometimes ends up throwing a no look inside ball like yesterday which almost caused a mistake.

He has also not been tested yet really under the high ball or defensively also. I don't remember him making a tackle yet this year (apparently he made 1 yesterday). The only one on one encounter he had he got made to look very silly vs ferguson.

I assume that you have seen something that I can't recall, as if you are mentioning the one when Ferguson made a break and Tui herded him towards Brooks for the tackle, well then your criticism is unfounded. It was shown on here in a series of shots at the time to prove as such when someone accused him of similar.

I was expecting a bit more from him and would happily accept a top line number one, but Tui is going okay and kicking at a good percentage.

Nofo should be playing fullback in ISP if he isn't playing NRL. Can't hurt to see how he goes. We know his effort would be there. I agree with those saying Tui looks off the pace. We do need more from our fullback, I think Nofo would certainly provide more in attack, we just don't know if he can get the 1 percenters right.

Isaako! I did hear in commentary on Saturday night that he was a natural fullback. Before making his debuts on the wing. And he can kick goals!

Thought the Huth came from the Panthers, I might be wrong.

Nah, Eels.

On a technicality was a Parra jnr but went to the Pamfers in 2013 where we picked him up from…soooo sucked in Parra and Gus...

tui isn't offering anything in attack looks pretty stuffed most of the time.
knee is still troubling him.
glad that easy goal didn't cost us.

will he ever be fit enough to be a good fullback?
going on his last 2 preseasons, hard to say yes

As much as I would like to support Tui, he does look slow and off the pace. A fullback needs to be able to run the ball back with gusto and chime into the back line incisively, threatening the line in both instances. Sorry but I haven't seen this at all so far. Actually, he looks hesitant and lacking in confidence, a far cry from his slashing efforts for the Warriors in 2016\. Is he still favoring his knee or is he unfit?

Has only had one preseason with us so far.

Point is the team is winning
As long as it's not costing us games it doesn't matter really
Tui kicked the winning goal from the sideline against the Roosters under pressure
He stopped 2 40/20s against the Storm
He has played his part at crucial times for us

i'm counting his time at the warriors and transition to us.
at some point he has to become a fulltime pro athlete.
if he can't the game will pass him by.
at 23 he should be the fittest he has ever been in his life.

We do have a good fullback in Dylan Smith. The big question is he ready for first grade? Or what about Jai Field or Nick Meaney.

Dylan Smith wouldn’t be ready this year but will be next year and beyond. Definitely a player for the future

While I think Tui is doing a good job esp given injuries and has won us 3 games with either goal kicking or things like the 7 tackle set he earned with smart play if Cleary is looking for a new fullback the a smokey could be DWZ - He has always wanted to play fullback, we could offer FB money, he has been coached by Cleary, his brother plays here and Penrith are full of young wingers and may need to pay more to keep Mansour so might want a cheaper winger on the other side plus he has had a few injuries (so he comes with some risk). He has played some fullback at Penrith under Cleary but only when Moylan was out.

Fingers crossed.

tui at the moment is playing with an injured knee which is affecting his running and his stepping. if you rewatch the cowboys trial he was running with a lot more energy and when he made that linebreak he was off and running, hopefully he can get his knee fixed sooner rather than later and we can see that x-factor that we know he can bring

Yeah I agree if you also watched the Eels game in his return from injury, for the first 60 mins he had more runs, touches and passes than he had in the Storms game. However in the last 20 minutes, you could see him holding his knee looking like it wasn't 100% still. I wouldn't give up on him just yet guys.

atm we are travelling well, more than well being in third spot so why is everyone wanting to change a winning team, theres gonna be disruptionsas as it is when grub,et come back so god pls just leave a winning team alone.

At times Tui is looking like BJ Leilua trying to change direction back there.

Im a Tui fan but im not that impressed, injury or not.
