FUTURE’S BRIGHT AT THE TIGERS DESPITE CURRENT WOES

I actually disagree . But not because I drink the coollade , or I’m a Benji Stan . I actually think he’s the perfect personality type to lead the club. We really need a career assistant like , dare I say it … Jason Taylor (never again) .
I think the Premier League Manager type structure is proven to be the most successful . It’s just about getting the right people in the right positions .
This is textbook blind faith

Don’t tell me you’re still on the Madge band wagon ?
“What year is it ?”
He got sacked because yelling at guys flat out gets old quick . Simples…. It works in Origin , cutting snakes heads off and shit , but not in the grind , unless you win the nrl lotto and somehow stumble into a team of people where it does .
Seriously it was 3 years ago . And nearly no one thinks it was a mistake Z the mistake was not hiring Benji as an assistant to a competent 2024 nrl coach . Not sacking Madge . Jesus Christ ….
What are you on about? Where did I mention Madge ? 😂
It wouldn’t matter who the coach was, the point is the continual change of landscape isnt helpful. I realise most posters think it’s fun , like having a new toy, but it’s not the way to build a powerful team. Now try to be rational?

But but he was a square peg in round hole.

He was a fit for Wigan, Souths, NZ and NSW but not Wests Tigers
Souths sacked him too, he is only good with a certain team, a team of superstars, even then he wears thin, he can't adapt to coach the team he has, he coaches the team he wants, sacking him was the right move, should have done it earlier

Michael Hagan comes to mind for me.

Sorry, that’s rubbish. He’s been successful with 4 different teams including getting NZ to smash Australia’s team of superstars. NSW were the underdogs.

We’re about to get our third spoon since sacking him, maybe if we’d done it earlier we might be on our 4th.

That was the common “feeling “ in the nrl re. The negotiation of his contract with us . Hence the low price for the best hooker in the game . Turns out it was all nonsense , but , yea , that was rub . If you want to put it another way , “his best footy was behind him” .
The “fact ” he could no longer play 80 mins , the way Cleary was using him etc.
like I said it was all nonsense , but yea , that was the rub / fear .
I think Covid vaccination stance was in the back of clubs minds aswell

Its a fact and far from rubbish, souths players turned on him, it was them or Madge, souths sacked him. He tried to coach us the same way, we didn't have the quality or type of player he wanted, he didn't adapt, he coached the same way and failed, so it is far from rubbish, take of the Madge fan beanie and have another look.
NSW, New Zealand were short term affairs, he wasn't around them for months, and Wigan was stacked like the Roosters, so no I am not talking rubbish.
Canterbury, Saints, Parra, Gold Coast have all hired coaches since he was sacked from us, none were chasing him, why do you think that is

It is rubbish. I love how people pass on a rumour without having any first hand knowledge. What makes Maguire a great coach is the way he answers the question…”what are we playing for?” “What does it mean to represent this team?” His only failure has been Tigers probably because he failed to find any answers?

He was given a team salary cap strapped with Josh Reynolds, Russell Packer and Moses Mbye as our highest paid players. He was sacked before he got the opportunity to work with Api who signed while Madge was coach (Api also played in the Souths side you say that "turned on him"). Madge turned down the Parra job to focus on Origin.

Check how many wins we've had since he left. History shows this was a horrible mistake by our terrible board. It's made even worse by the decision to hire a first time coach.

Its the way he was sacked that begun this shit spiral to the cellar.
To say it was unprofessional and incompetant is an understatement.
The overwhelming evidence is clear that bringing Sheens back to this club has resulted in 3 spoons.

Madge had to deal with the dud contracts that Ivan had brought onto the club which took years to fix. He was able to recruit Api & Papali'i once he actually had some breathing room & also had to deal with the incompetence of the previous management. The fact that Madge has been successful everywhere he's gone except here shows that the club is/was a problem & not him. Madge also doesn't get enough credit for turning around our pathway systems imo... it's clear he had a focus of trying to invest more into the juniors infact the winning Wests HM team won while he was still coach.

And yet, I'd argue we are closer than ever to turning that around.

I don't believe Tim Sheens was responsible for 3 spoons. I'd say the club decision to focus on development of juniors & remove overpriced players has resulted in 3 spoons, but brought us closer to success than at any time under Maguire.

Someone said earlier that it appears fans refuse to accept that changing the entire club culture isn't a quick fix. Richo I think has expediated the process by culling Bateman, Papali'i etc because it strips off the 'fat' & gets the squad clean & ready to improve.

Sheens walked into a mess built by Maguire, Lee H, Pascoe, the board etc through a turnstyle of players & coaches from 2012 onwards. I'm not ABSOLVING Sheens for his recruitment of senior players not working out, but a clear message of development of young players- Da Silva, Galvin etc as examples- is producing higher quality players to choose from going forward.

He clearly took some early bullets for Benji last year before getting unceremoniously pushed out, when the smart move would have been to let Sheens be that mentor/assistant coach/head of football that we all suggest Benji needs in his coaching staff. But alas, that wasn't the choice. And here we are.

3 spoons is a result of a culmination of mistakes. How it's been avoided until now is an achievement in itself. In the end, 17th, 14th, 9th....nobody cares.

Make the playoffs. Everyone forgets the spoons.

I do often overlook Madge's involvement in the junior development. That's my bad.

I understand when he first came in he was shocked at our lack of pathways.

I should acknowlege that more often.

No doubt Sheens should have never been anywhere near the coaching job, or even at the club at all, that was a disgraceful and inept decision hiring a guy who sued you
