I agree his stats show hes chewing through the meters and hit ups, I just cant stand seeing such a big guy who used to tear through and couldnt be put down, get stopped so easily now and couldn't look less intimidating.

How would you go with 3 blokes weighing 100kg plus jumping on you?

Are we still talking NRL Willow or did this thread take an even bigger turn?

Definitely NRL…You definitely have some cryptography skills though 😱pen_mouth:

I would crumple like a paper bag but I wasnt suggesting I was a better forward than Keithy, just that I regularly see players like Marty and Aaron and yes forwards in other teams like George Burgess who cant be put down.

I don't get why people find the need to bag our consistent performers. Each week Galloway makes big meters and stiffens up our middle in defence. Exactly the like the textbook says.
We are playing structured football. He is a key element to our new game plan.

Obviously I'm missing some big pluses the guy brings to the table and I like your point Tigerdon about his role in a more structured game. Hadn't thought of it like that.

I don't think Burgess is all he's talked up to be at the moment. Our pack handled him well a few weeks ago and having a look at the matches where Galloway and Woods have played together this season, Woods definitely makes more hitups, but run for run, both players make about the same metres gained (about 9\. something).

You lost me at the first sentence BT,when you stated he was poor this year, particularly as you related it to the recent past when he carried persistent foot injuries.

The guy is simply a every effective middle man that would be the second prop picked each and every week, the first being a current international of course.

Yep. I have no idea why this thread was even started. Keith has been getting consistent metres for us and playing really well.

He deserves a starting spot in the team.

I'm surprised that people aren't seeing this. Woods has a massive motor but Keith is having just as much impact on a per hit-up basis. I could understand if Keith was making terrible metres per hit-up or something but he isn't.

Keith has been huge value for us up the middle this year! and haft off to him for lifting his game this season.

He might not be a game breaker like Woodsy, but Keithy is no nonsense and is getting huge stats next to the benchmark prop this year in Woods. He also has some good play of the balls after making 10 odd metres, which gets us on the front foot.

Keith has never been what one would call intimidating. So nothing has changed there. However, he is making big metres every week. He'll do me.

We are a better team when he is on the park

He played the first 34mins to allow Woods to break and come on, his fitness and durability has improved as has his quality.

He has had his moments previous years but so far this year he has been good for us and will be very important for us when Woods and Robbie are in NSW camp.

We need him.

I've been happy with his peformance so far this year, it's been much better than last!

After 5 games: 777m. 66hu. 130tkls.
Average: 155m. 13hu. 26tkls

Those a good stats for any prop.

BTW, FTR, when he plays we win 50% of our games - 76 wins and 76 losses.

Keithy has been great so far its been really good to see, compared to recent years where he has had multiple injuries

Strongly disagree with OP

Some people are just plain ignorant. Or perhaps stupid. KG is averaging over 150m a game. How awful. Not every prop in the game is a high energy impact player.
He makes metres, is solid in defence, has a good work rate and helps lead our young pack. Anyone who says otherwise hasn't watched any of our games this season and is presenting a biased argument based on previous (injured) form.

I'd like to think it's more ignorance, glad to be proven wrong by the passionate fans on this site. I'll put my hand up and say clearly I'm wrong and some of it was based of previous years .

Keithy has been consistent week in week out this season, stats are there to back it up and he sets a good platform for us early, aside from 1 mistake against the dogs he's been playing very well.
Goes to show how much injuries affected his performances that last few years, looking forward to seeing his good form continue and he has an injury free run. Can definitely see him playing in the City side at least.

Fans lover to see blokes charge into the tackle and bump blokes off and smash guys. Keithy doesnt do this, so is an easy target for criticism.

He does alot of stuff coaches love (which help wins games), he takes early hit ups in sets, finds his front and gets a quick PTB.
In defence he wins the tackles very often, at one point last year he was number 1 in the comp for that stat. This allows his to get into position at marker and control the space around the ruck. He is deceptively good at this.

Keithy is very good at his unspectacular role. We win more when he plays for a reason.

I thought for sure this was an old post that had been dug up!

Keith's size is certainly something we benefit from, and miss when he's not there.

Along with that size comes excellent defensive presence, and he really sures up our ruck D.

I also disagree with the OP claim of lack of aggression… what do you want him to do, go around punching people! Typically a stare from Keithy is enough to make the aggro opponent think twice about it...

But along with that size (and age to a degree) comes with slower movement when carting the ball up. He still makes the metres, and they are typically the ugly hit-ups too.

I prefer the term liability myself works for Richards and Moses…. :unamused:

I hate to say this as I've been a big fan of the guy for the last few years but watching him this season only reiterates how little he offers. He lacks the aggression that woods and taupau bring, doesn't break the line, usually backs in to tackles, has had plenty of times the last couple years to bag a try and seems to lack execution, cant recall a time recently where he made a great offload.

I feel like he's just there to make up numbers and more young forwards should be getting game time in his place.

If someone can convince me otherwise please do…

Woods backs into tackles quite often,Sauce doesn't.

His stats should.
