GARETH ELLIS COMEBACK IN SIGHT
By Wayne Cousins
Thursday 14 June 2012 4:11 PM
Wests Tigers second-rower Gareth Ellis has spoken about the importance of getting regular eyesight checks after being examined at Concord Oval today.
As the official partner of the NRL, OPSM is offering a series of free Vision Screening to all NRL Clubs for their players, coaches and administration staff. Ellis was joined by Liam Fulton, Matt Groat, Tom Humble and John Grant in getting a free eye examination.
OPSM recommend people get a full eye test at least every two years. OPSM has a full range of technology that looks deep into the eye to help check for eye disease and other potential health issues.
Ellis said he used to get his eyes checked each year in England during his time at Leeds.
“It has been four years since I last had my eyes checked. I’m pretty sure from some of the feedback I’m getting from a few of the boys that I might need glasses,’’ Ellis said.
“I’ve never worn glasses. Quite a few members of my family wear glasses. It is great to be able see the OPSM guys here and get checked out."
Ellis has started running on his fractured left foot with a view to returning in round 20.
"I’ve been ripping into training. Hopefully I can be fitter and stronger than I was before,'' Ellis said.
