As you guys were a big part of his career, I thought I would post this here:

What a fantastic player.

Thanks mate.

A champion of the club and part of probably the best squad assembled for the Wests Tigers (even taking into account the 2005 premiership winning side).

I suggest you wouldnt be able to find a Tigers fan with a single bad word about Gaz and that is a rarity amongst our fans.

Gareth Ellis was a gem of a player and a champion bloke!…I remember him as a nice humble man whenever he was interviewed as a player his defence was hit and stick and he ran great lines in attack....wish he had him now!

Crouching Tiger labelled Gareth Ellis a pillow…

Very humble guy...the Gareth ARMY will long remember him...

One of the best line running back rowers i've seen. He and Marahall used to have a field day. Never forget his pass to Marshall in that Warriors game where we came back from 20 points down. Shame he didn't spend more of his career here.

A pillow filled with dark matter, Satan's tears and the soul of any player he ever ran at after a flat pass from Benji.

Anyone remember the time he lost a tooth and spat it out? I'm sure it happened and i can even picture his smile after the game but cant find anything on it via the google. maybe it didnt

In defense he would single handedly change the momentum of a set with a strong tackle that slowed play the ball right down. He could do it on the back foot against big runners too. Was incredible to watch, and we haven't had a tackler anywhere near as good since. Priceless to have.

His football for us is embedded in my mind, can see it all right now just reading others memories

Class act and a total professional

The best forward WT have ever had

Agree (that would be a good side discussion…).

And for those who didn't really see Ellis, he was like a hybrid Luke Lewis and Beau Scott.

It's sad that he's not really remembered in the NRL outside of our supporters. James Graham and the Burgess' get all the accolades when the topic of Englishmen are brought up. Ellis is a bit of a distant memory.

He spent less time here and didnt make a GF.
Three good years but his fourth was forgettable which probably doesnt help.

Is a champion. Loved watching him play, unique body shape when running, great angles and awesome defence.

The bloke is a winner. His record proves that. Great for us. Maybe Ivan can entice him back to warmer weather and a forwards coaching roll.
Well done champ. Our game will miss you.
