Gavet Released

The Broncos have granted contract releases to outside back Jordan Drew and prop forward James Gavet.

Both players sought an early release from playing out their 2016 contracts at Red Hill to seek other opportunities.

The Club was happy to meet their request and wishes them all the very best with their future.

Jordan Drew has progressed right through the club’s development system, playing a key role with the Broncos Under 20s team in the centres.

Drew played in the 2014 NYC U20s Grand Final against the Warriors and also made his senior NRL debut in Round 22 of Season 2013 against the Dragons on the wing scoring a try.

He is now looking for a regular first-grade spot.

Kiwi prop James Gavet joined the Broncos during 2015 pre-season training from the Wests Tigers.

He played in our Auckland Nines campaign before coming off the bench against the Wigan Warriors in February’s World Club Series victory and during our NRL Round One defeat against the Rabbitohs at home.

Gavet suffered a ruptured ACL at training leading into the Cowboys Round Three home derby, ruling him out for the remainder of the 2015 Season.

He has now successfully completed his lengthy rehabilitation and departs with the club’s best wishes.

Bring him back… Griffin, Gavet, Ava, Mconnachie, Chee-Kam, Edwards.

Any four of them would make an astute bench. Our forward pack is somehow looking much better this season.

Yes bring him back would be great impact off the bench the pack is getting stronger and with lodge gone we need someone who can have impact

What it could look like
8\. Woods
9\. Farah
10\. Taupua
11\. Lawrence
12\. halatua
13\. siro

14\. Ava
15\. Griffin
16\. Edwards
17\. Gavet

Has to be at the right price, CHEAP but even then he needs to be a more consistent player as he tended to fade in and out games and had an error or three in his game. Basically I am not fussed one way or the other!!

Bring him back for sure. He would not break the bank but would definitely contribute to a Wests Tigers forward contigent to be reckoned with.

how the hell do the broncos get players to ask them for release while we have to pay our players to go play elsewhere?

I think Cherrington is going to be the first person picked on the bench if he is not in the starting line up.

Had an idea he had some behavioural issues when he was last with us however could be mistaken about that. Good player at his best if a bit wild at times.

His main problem was with being on time. Which doesn't meet team standards.

I think he played one game this year and he was terrible. If the Broncos "threatened" him with a year in reserve grade, it could be the end of his career.

Ok, only if he gets a haircut, lol

The only time I saw him play with the Broncs he had his hair really short. Dont know if its a 'Samson' thing but didnt seem nearly as intimidating as he did when he had the wild .

Would take him back in a heart beat…
Could be massive for us and Marty might like having his old mate back in the squad.

Because everyone loves to play for us, the club, the culture, the location, the fanbase, everything about it is appealing.

No thanks he had a bad attitude while here. i would much rather have someone with a positive attitude he didnt and was consistently late at training and games.
