Gavet's future....

He's troubled by life circumstance. Not sure he can ever divorce himself from that and focus on what it takes to be a consistently successful nrl player. If offers came for him, I think we should let him go elsewhere. If no offers eventuate, the club needs to support him to get his priorities onto professional footy.

Gavet brings a tremendous energy to the team. Sadly though he seems to prefer spending that energy at the street fights. I love him, and dislike him at the same time.

Gavet is a good and destructive player when on song but he has commitment issues which is the reason why no club has held onto him despite him being such a good player.

One of my very close friends is a player manager so you can imagine the type of intel I get from time to time.

In this case, one of the reasons why Gavet was dropped is because he turned up 30 minutes before a game…..on THREE occasions.

You cant just change some people.

Reminds me of the Dayne Laurie saga  I would be happy for Gavet to stay, but he will have to pull his head in it seems :bash

If he doesn't it would be a complete waste of the great talent he has been provided with. I hope he chooses the right path. Some players with his background do and some like Dane Laurie don't. Come on James..

Couldnt the lateness be fixed by one of the other players offering to pick him up game days etc?I run into a LOT of the tigers players socially REGULARLY including James and I feel he just needs a father figure He seems a quiet and shy but nice guy like your average polynesian guy I guess(and this isnt a bad thing). It appears hes actually a guy with good street smarts and he just gets bored easily thru concentration probably cause hes always thinking. My choice would be Adam Blair the players always seem on their best behaviour when he is around them and they all seem to really listen when he is talking. He seems to be a natural leader for the polynesian boys especially. This I believe is the major difference between Wests Tigers at the moment and say Manly or Melbourne. We have high risk-high reward players just like them who are at the crossroads of life with behavioural issues etc and these players seem to flourish under the strict disciplinarians like Toovey and Bellamy whereas at Wests tigers weve seen too many Daine Lauries and Marika Koroibetes etc.I think its a tigers cultural problem but it seems like it will improve with the impending cleanout and the restructuring of the board etc etc.We just need to understand as a club the importance of getting our players in the right head space as not just rugby league but all genres of life it quite often is the most brilliant ones who are a shade away from brilliance or a shade away from crap depending on where they are with headspace etc.

Jerry, good thread,I tend to agree with you re.Blair with the Island boys,Lote was very good with our Fijian players as well.I think but aren't to sure that clubs have an education and training program for young players coming into the NRL as it is a job not just a game for them.Maybe more thought or work on these program's could solve some of the issues, especially if young players may have to much free time on their hands. They must learn that they have a responsibility to the club as well as fans and the community  :sign:

Get him digging holes on the side of the road somewhere for the off season. Make this guy appreciate what his got. Man most people dream to have the opportunity and potential his got.Either way it's make or break year for him.
