Gibbs

clontarfkid…is there any Wests Tigers player you do like...

Gibbs has shown enough to me in the last 18 months to suggest his best years as a Prop are ahead of him....

As a little comparison Gibbs is ranked 14th for metres gained this year and 13th in tackles made of all the Props in the NRL....Moi Moi 17th and 32nd respectively.....wouldn't get a start...pffft

I think I pushed Mullaney & Lazarus' case earlier this evening in another post,& dont forget my kind words about fifita in the same post…or did u choose to ignore that bit GEO?
I just call mediocrity as i see it..just because someone pulls on a Tigers jersey,it doesnt make them infallible,& that includes Gibbs who just doesnt have any real impact most games..except when he gives away silly penalties.
Ranking 14th amongst all props(the lofty position surpises me),if u accept the stats, makes him exactly as I called him..a journeyman.

Actually I've done Bryce a dis-service …He's 12th on ave....that''s in front of 45 other journeyman Props in 2010.....

there you go again with statistics - thats not how rep teams are picked unfortunately or much any other team - its all about impact.

Oh Rubbish!!!

The Engine room is more about stats. To be fair, picking forwards is about balance. But, at the end of the day, if the domestic work is not done, very few teams will win games. Most teams need a balance between domestic props and impact props/forwards depending where you usually run them.

Queensland have won the last 4 origin series on a simple theory of 2 Domestic and 1 impact Props. Price and Civenaciva are the 2 best 'Stats' Props in the competition.

Gibbs is not a Moi Moi, but he is an integral part in this Tigers Team.
:deadhorse:

again you cant compare moi moi with gibbs - gibbs has no chance. Moi moi is an international player gibbs is not - how more simple do you need it.

still missing a few other stats. offloads/tacklebreaks/errors/penalties.. we know gibbs is probably in the lines of 20 + errors + penalties while galloway gives alot less..

that been said i like payten for impact of the bench over them all!

Good post Watto….dont waste your time with guys like AHX, they dont understand

Gibbo aint explosive like a Moi Moi, but his work is more quantity than quality so to speak...it mainly goes unseen.
A 10 mtr hit up isnt as spectacular as a 40m line break, but you put one players dozen/14 or so 10m h/u's with the backrowers and other props, this is what give the halves the room they need.

One cant completely ignore stats of course, but as i said earlier he rarely bends the line or even breaks a tackle..usually just gets dropped by the first tackler,& I dont think opposition players look out for him in defence.Ask Mark O'Meley, though that was a little while ago.
Having said that,we cant have a whole team of superstars & he has a job to do & is doing it better this year than in the past,& is getting his "stats "up thru an honest work rate I suspect….but only close friends & relatives would put him in the same category as a Moi Moi over recent years

Penalties conceeded Fifita 9 Heighno 7 Gibbs 5 Ayshford 5 Ellis 5 Fulton 4 Payten 3 Galloway 0

Errors Marshall 11 Farah 10 Ellis 9 Ayshford 7 Fifita 3 Gibbs 3 Payten 3 Galloway 2…..

Offloads Galloway 13 Gibbs 9

Tkl breaks Gibbs 9 Galloway 8 as for impact off the bench Fifita 31 Payten 1

silly me, of course fifita of the bench :stuck_out_tongue:
i still don't like gibbs but thats my opinion, hopefully this year he can turn it around (my opinion that is)

You're exactly right AHX you can't compare the two simply because you're comparing them based on Moi Moi's "stellar" 8 week run at the end of last year which is hardly a reflection of his career. You forget that Moi Moi is simply not playing as well as then. He's more or less been found out and teams easily adapt to his smash and bash tactics. I will admit, it would be hard for Bryce to measure up to that but compare them before or after that period, and Gibbs has it over him.

People only single Gibbs out for penalties because he gives the most obvious or silliest of penalties away, and they are the ones fans remember.

In the here and now, Bryce is easily better than Moi Moi. And most importantly, Bryce has the most biggest thing over Moi Moi… General consistency over his career.

your right about the penalties, im sure most of them are holding the player down.
In the city country match, he made a tackle and someone dropped the ball but the ref's had missed it. He continued laying on him yelling that he had dropped it while the ref continually yelled MOVE! how he didnt get penalised is beyond me, but he really needs to have some more commonsense in his game as does fifita.
They both lay over the player and its not tomorrow and if we could get rid of some of these stupid errors it would go along way to the tigers making the top 8.

sorry for the rant but one of my mega top peeves is penalties for laying on the player (and not just the tigers also whoever ive tipped! i go nuts about it.)

i hear all you guys and understand where you are coming from, you have a right just like myself and like i said earlier i'd have moi moi over gibbs anyday in my team, anyday. i stand by moi moi. if he played for wests tigers where would that leave gibbs really. No Ink i understand where Tiger Watto is coming from all i'm saying is that moi moi is a better prop forward than gibbs - thats all.

Shaun Kenny Dowell is an International, Chris Lawrence isn't. Brent Kite is an international, Keith Galloway isn't.

Pretty weak logic you have.

again, i'm just saying moi moi is a better prop forward than gibbs. simple really. I'm not gonna rant on about it like a lunatic - with or without logic - you prefer gibbs - simple - :sign:

ill take moi moi just because its fun to say fui fui. and id rather have him the gibbs. straight swap ok lets go!
