Give him a BBQ, WTF !!!

These types of decisions remind me of Will Ferrels character in Semi Pro.
He would have certainly thought the barby was an excellent gift and would have made a huge song and dance promoting it 😆
It should all be handled behind closed doors.

You got YouTubers doing stuff for the homeless and filming it , simply for the likes/views/clout.

Our club tries to do the good publicity and just embarrass themselves 😂 needs to stop. Common sense please 😅

This needs to be put to bed as it was a nice gesture and it's not his final presentation.
By all reports Brooks loves it and thankful.

I am sure the club will do a final presentation at the awards night in a more formal setting, but the media won't let this get in the way of a click bait story.

Everyone is replaceable that is BENEATH the heirarchy. At times i feel WT management are as untouchable as the North Korean government but not quite as efficient
Ah the North Korean Government is VERY "touchable". It's the Supreme Leader that they have to worry about.

He only classifies himself as the heirarchy and untouchable. As Mel Brookes once said in one of his movies "It's good to be the king"

Apparently he’s passionate about cooking, still a weird gift to give him in front of the fans. Just order online and send it to his house!!
Imagine him trying to wheel it back to his car haha

I don't know what the club SHOULD have given Brooksie. Weird gift. But, more practical than a ball in a box or a shirt signed by the guys that'll bash him next season.

You know that people are looking for an excuse to bag the club, though, when a BBQ to a player that was nearly unanimously bagged for underperforming as a parting gift is considered to be insulting. If they gave him a boat, a la the Storm, would the media be ok with it?

It's not the gift so much, just the way it was presented to him. I don't know, maybe it's not that bad. They just seem to have a way of constantly not reading the room.

On the "Ask the Boss" podcast the CEO said that "Scott Fulton doesn't come cheap". Understand what he was trying to say, but once again, inappropriate to discuss these sorts of things in public. Fulton looked a bit embarrassed.

When you're in public and constantly do or say the wrong thing, is staying out of the limelight an option? No way, Pascoe gets in the limelight and wears a white suit.

Was it Vaughan’s old barbecue? Is that why the media are on it?
Why just get one of the ones lying around from Council Cleanup's.

Hey it's not Bondi here! We can only give Luke a Rusty BBQ or a used fridge with the door gaffa taped back on (council made us remove the doors, very important). A rained soaked Futon or deck chairs with broken backs were other options...

It's not like people throw good stuff on the kerb for council cleanup. Luke were the Wests Tigers, our options for Gifts are limited.

The more I think about the less of a story this seems to me.
Whilst I find the gift choice odd if Brooks like it who cares if it's odd.
I agree with Pascos comments that more practical than a ball or whatever.
I also believe that although the club owes Brooks nothing a public gesture is a good idea. It shows current and future players that their time at the club will be valued.

So all the flack the Tigers copped this week over the BBQ present and no mention that at the end of season awards night he would get something special..

Now I bet you that nothing will be mentioned about the farewell gifts the Raiders just gave Crocker and Whighton.. They got a picture frame that dead set looked like it come from K-Mart with the clips at the back so you can change the picture. If I'm a player I would have the $1,000 BBQ over what they got every day of the week...

Clear and obvious we are a media target...

I don't know how to add photo but have a watch of the presentation as I thought I was seeing things.

Both dodgy as hell.

11 years of service, love him or hate him. We offered him contracts and he played, often to bare the brunt of our displeasure. Local junior who stood by us, when the captain and the other 2 dogs abandoned us (Nofa stayed loyal, not to forget). For nothing else, so the players coming can see that we have a bit of class, a gold watch perhaps, a jersey with 7/11. Something mounted or a plaque. But really a BBQ, give me a break. Thanks Luke
Is he a vegetarian?? ;-)
