Give miller a go

Chalk and Cheese Miller and Brooks. Miller played 60 NYC games Brooks has played 4.
We had big half back problems last year and Miller wasn't used and after his games so far this year it looks like Mr Sheens was on the money again.

You could get Cronk or Thursty….without decent forwards any 7 will struggle

Our forwards were good Thursday night. Didn't help get over the line. Even with 85% possession.

So youre saying Miller's shown nothing after four games, and because Sheens used him sparingly last year even though we had halves problems….indicating Sheens thought he doesnt ''have it''...that justifys Sheens point?

Tell me.

Who recruited Miller>?

Sorry I am not a Miller fan, but only Miller can turn me into one. When it happens I will eat my words and I will even apologise now for doubting the kid. But from what I see he has some major issues with his game and I am not sure any NRL first grade side could spend the time to work them out whilst he plays first grade. He needs at least a year in state cup maybe two. Do we have a better option yes we have had one for 3 years now but we keep expecting him to play fullback a position he struggles with. This year is extremely frustrating when we have a real fullback playing state cup or out of position in first grade. When will we ever learn.
But as always I will follow my beloved team with my heart on my sleeve.
:sign:

90% agree with this.. because I am neither against nor for Miller. I am happy for him to play if he can make an impact and mold into the team but like Sheer mentioned, we have a decent halfback in Moltzen who is playing fullback, and as he has shown capable there, we have something greater in Teddy who is playing state cup.

IMO Moltz hasn't been dealt his fair share at haflback to prove himself. Start of last year we had Moltz at 7 and Tedesco at 1\. And we would have most likely stuck with that if unfortunately Tedesco did not get injured.

That was under Sheens reign and a whole year has passed now that it's believed Miller is now ready. But i don't think he is, not 100%, maybe 60-70% there, he's on his way. But we have experience in Moltzen who played all junior football in the halves and we had Tedesco who we all know has what it takes to make the 1 his own.

C'mon Potsy!

I agree our fowards werent bad, but Manlys pack still made 200 metres more with basically one player less (Galavao)
Their errors and our field position is whats evened up the figures…and given they have the best defense in the comp....only conceded 4 trys in 4 weeks, hardly the 7's fault...we are crap right across the park

Possesion wasnt 85%...you need to BS to make a point???

Moltzen's played maybe twenty games at half-back and proved he isn't a half-back, he's a fullback. Miller was told to run the football in round 2(finally) and in a team were it's extremely difficult to overrule the playmakers who aren't short of ego, has indicated he's a Ist grade half-back in the making.

Lui had a nice pass, but was a turnstile in defence and an undesirable role model. Enough about him being "missed".

I'm not writing Miller off just yet. I seem to remember the same thing being said about Lui at 7 and you know what…he improved and actually grew in confidence and found his niche in this team, before going down his ill fated path. Nothing I've seen from Miller so far surprises me but if we're serious about grooming a young half back then we need to show the same patience we showed with Lui.

As long as Miller doesn't stuff up badly, I'm happy to give him the season because I believe he'll come out the other side a better player. We need to accept that this is a necessary evil. We don't have a top shelf option to use, not even an experienced back up half. I do see some merit with Shifting Anasta to 6 and Benji 7 but I think we should show some conviction on the Miller/Marshall combo.

I don't know, same person that recruits all the other 16 -17 year olds.
Warren McDonnell with assistance from Grant Jones I guess.

Pretty sure Peter Gentle was largely responsible for getting Miller across to the Tigers.

Yes I think that's right Willow, anyhow I am pretty certain Miller will be there again when the team is announced this afternoon.

Given this forums history of predicting the young guys futures,

I'm led at the moment to believe brooks will be a nuffy.

having said that, I'll be here to lay to the boot into brooks after his third game of NRL.

I don't know what people expect of Miller…..

He has been placed in the Eternal Triangle with Farah and Marshall and told what to do.
It's being like placed in a small box and told to stay there. He is told not to run, don't organise, don't overcall and don't kick.

What do you think that "training incident" was about before the Manly game. Farah told Miller, this is how it is, like it or lump it.

It's a no win situation for him.....what halfback would want to come into that toxic environment.
Do you think Brooks is going to do any better?....I don't.

Potter needs to manup and take the organisational and kicking duties from Marshall and just let him play a running game and let Miller have his say and show his talent.

If things don't change, expect him to be gone pre June 30...his Manager's is probably on the phone right now lining up prospective Clubs.

Well said pete!!

Also agree with Liddy, and if not shown some respect from Robbie, I fully expect Miller to be on the market sooner rather than later.
Then it's 2012 all over again…

The idea of a 7 being a foil for Benji and Robbie is wrong IMO.

Robbie and Benji should compliment the 7, not the other way round.

Around 05 Prince legitimately ran our offense while Benji and Robbie did their bit on the edges and around the ruck, respectively. A commanding 7 is what we need and Miller could be that guy, he just needs a bit of experience - not every player is going to be Johns and blitz it in their first game.

Yeah well I guess we''l never know now. Potter has made the decision to dump him and you wont get Anasta out of the halves now with a team of brahman bulls. He may get the odd cameo if injury strikes but essentially we have wasted another young talent. The impatience of this club is astounding….where was it is 2006 when Prince had clearly clocked off? This is totally Sheens's fault but he is gone now and we are still making the same mistakes.

potter dropped miller this week, hardly sheens' fault.

Benji and Robbie didn't stop Miller from making tackles.
At least Potter has shown he is not as stubborn as Sheens and will make obvious changes when required.

please his defense his 10x better than what lui and marshall had when they started.. this kid plays it tough and never backs out of a challenge.
you can blame his attack all you want, but it would be stupid to doubt his attitude or talent in defense.

it amazes me what Sheens gets blamed for, he is the kayser soze of coaching, he controls everything

I'm happy to give Miller the time he needs to develop his game. I believe Anasta and Marshall will be a short term thing, unless of course the combo reaps rewards. I said yesterday that nothing Miller had done surprised me. Potter dropping him also doesn't surprise me. With the attack struggling this year he had to do something. Anasta's impact in the second row has also been very minimal, so it makes sense to change things up.

I will however be paying some extra attention to the NSW Cup performance and hopefully over the next month Miller produces some real good form and be ready for another shot.
