Like Spartan and Demps I have a strong belief in God. I don't normally broadcast this or force my beliefs onto other people but my faith in God is a very important part of my life. I'm not the most perfect Christian and no doubt have done things that would have Him frown and will probably continue to do these things. The most important part for me is that I have accepted Jesus Christ as my saviour. Certain things have happened in my life and I strongly believe that God has prepared me for what I am experiencing now and will experience in the future. I wont go through what these experiences are here because I don't want to force my story onto anyone but for who ever is interested, I'm more than happy to share this over PM's or facebook.

But there is really nothing in that link. Most of it substantiates that the bible was written around 30BC, which is true, and there is some very loose translations.
But the structure of the bible, and a lot of other religions, is really just personifying the Sun into a man.
To give you a few quick dot points. The east star is a star called sirius, on dec 25th, the '3 kings' another constellation align with the rising of the sun on the 25th. Mary, the constellation virgo 'the virgin', is also a translation of Bethlehem. During the 3 days 22,23,24, the sun actually stops moving South, on the 25, it rises again. Hence the tale of the 3 days and the resurrection (but they didn't celebrate that until the Spring equinox - Easter). The southern cross also happens to be placed above the sun at that point. The number 12 used throughout the bible is a reflection on the number of astrological star signs.
There is a lot more, especially the comparisons between Horus (the Egyptian sun god) and Jesus that I could go on with, or Moses to Mises, but I'll just leave it at that…
However, I do think some 'god' created existence and we should all live our lives believing in an afterlife and good morals will get you there.
Religion itself is a curious beast.
A religious person on their own follows adheres to a moral code to what believes will make them a good person. I respect that and nor can I argue with that.
But on the inside I feel that religion is just another convention upon which where we as human beings, are trying to fill our insatiable need to understand where we fit in the universe. Without any sort of reasoning, we find it hard to have a measurable means to justify our existence. What annoys me is when people let their conventions become the very definition of them rather than just an extension of themselves and have the inward belief that everyone else around them should be just like that.
That said, I have an intense interest in religion, not for the moral ideals they suggest, but rather how it affects people and how they live in accordance with their respective teachings (i.e. what possesses a 16 year old Palestinian boy to strap explosives to his chest and detonate it in an area crowded with Jews, or how the KKK are a white supremacist, anti-semitic organisation that hinges upon their following of the bible and belief of Jesus, the Son of God and "King of the Jews".) I suppose that reverts back to Adman's comment of what could be perceived as God and to a lesser extent, religion itself.

Religion is "Man made" set of ideas that in affect bring you further away from God, Ie Traditions and legalistic requirements.
Here is the truth as I see it.
- We are all sinners
- The price of sin according to a Holy and Just Deity is separation.
- There is now Loving your family, Being Good, paying Money, service to an organisation Blowing yourself up etc that makes you eligible to get out of this debt.
- This loving Deity sent his son who lived a perfect life and allowed himself to be put to death so that through this gift he gives us Freedom in life beyond this one..
That's a good deal IMO.

Like it or not, this entire world is based on agreeing with or trying to combat the principles of the Bible.
People like to believe God does not exist as we hate Authority, If God is real then we case a light at how we live and we dont like that feeling.
You hit your thumb with an Hammer and no one yells out OH Budha, its always Christ.
We talk out global warming today and the changes we are seeing, yet we are taught that changes take billions of years. Baloney.
We talk about evolution of man yet there is not one fossil or skeletal of a half ape half man, yet we have many dinosaur bones that are supposed to be from before mankind.
People believe they are Christians because their parents were, or because they are nothing else. Its not the way it works.
Here is the truth as I see it.

To all of the non believers Can you explain one thing to me . Where did everything come from ??? Even if the Big Bang Theory is true, matter and energy has to come from somewhere . If someone can explain that to me i could possibly become a non believer but everthing has to come from somewhere
