Okay. I think the Panthers try was okay as he kicked before he went behind the player but haven’t seen a replay.

Fair enough, as I said I haven’t seen a replay so can’t really comment too much.

At the end of the day the best team on the day won and really should have pushed on and won by a fair bit.

Excuse my ignorance was at the ground so only saw on the big screen and nothing jumped out at me as blatantly wrong.

the panthers first try when there was a clear obstruction but they let play on....

the penalty try (which was correct)

His bomb which Edwards dropped and the restart he achieved demonstrated a very good tactical understanding. He has far more in his game than being lightning quick.

and in all honesty, it was the two underdog teams that pumped past the two favoured teams, so everyone just wanted a good game with only us and the cows fans with vested interest

Penrith struggle to score inside the 20. They’ve won games off good kicking and high possession counts whenever possession evens up they struggled. Melbourne new this and countered it excellent as expected really made sure Luai and Cleary were quiet and Penrith made a lot of errors too. Inexperience and nerves got the better of them

Well penrith actually had a bulk of possession early they just couldn’t convert. I wouldn’t say Cleary was quiet...still tried hard, just had a Ben Hunt finals pressure type game where he folded like today’s laundry. He’ll be better for it

I was mystified by Nadens benching - when he finally came on penrith looked lethal down that edge. If he’s on the outer I wouldn’t mind him at the tigers, even if he has the most punchable head in the nrl

I found it very amusing that about 5 minutes after that try, Smith did exactly the same thing down the other end and no-one said a word. His kick was heading dead, but the lead-up was completely the same.

Obstruction rules are stupidly technical at the moment. It is not about inside or outside shoulders, or whether they go past the lead runner, it should be judged on whether a defender was impeded from making a tackle or a play on someone with the ball.

sorta agree with penrith seeming to be better in the first half....they appeared to be doing a heap of up tempo high energy stuff, while actually not delivering anything of substance.

Melbourne defended well (like always), and the few opportunities they had they made penrith pay. Penalty try, couple of penalties then an intercept and it was game over. It came down to professionalism and keeping cool and calm IMO.
