Short memories and rose coloured glasses. Bennett sacked wally Lewis acrimoniously when he was shaping the culture of the Broncos. What jt is doing with Farah pales into insignificance….the fans were in uproar....guess who was right

The difference you are overlooking is Taylor is not fit to shine Bennett's shoes.

You're really showing your ignorance paws… Bennett had only a couple of years experience at the time as well
Too easy

Lest be honest - Brisbane and Wests Tigers may as well be in different competitions if you compare the assets of each club. More importantly- perhaps you should consider the roster at Brisbane when Wally was moved on, and who Bennett wanted to buy with the wealth of funds that the Broncos seem to have at their disposal, and still can remain under the cap. Nothing like our situation.

You're right , Bennett was only young but he was a SOO winning coach and had taken the Raiders to the GF before that.
And, it was a big (and unpopular) call on his part.
**Either way , I'm willing to bet Taylor will never be held in the same regards as a coach as Bennett.**

Pretty safe bet…not many coaches will be held in the same regards as a coach as Bennett.

A couple of years experience ??

He had been coaching in the BRL since the late 70's and had won a couple of premierships

Wonder why the never mention that fact when it comes to Bennetts' coaching career…It's always 20 years + at the Broncos or never lost a GF :blah :blah :blah

Bennett Souths side lost the BRL GF in 1984 by a record margin 42-10 if memory serves to a star studded Wynnum Manly side

But he learnt his lesson in 1985 against the same side with virtually the same personnel at his disposal by winning in a huge upset 10-8

Don't quote me but I think Bennett lost his first 2 GF's , and 3 of his first 4 one where they lost to nil

The Wynnum sides of the mid 80's would of been a Top 5 contender in the NSWRL Ink

I'm talking about a side that contained Lewis ,Miles ,Dowling ,Colin Scott ,Bob Lindner , Gary Coyne , The French Brothers ,Andrew Tessman ,Terry Butler all State of Origin players bar Tessman and Tessman bar the car accident could of been anything

Also if memory serves before Combined Brisbane played in the AMCO Cup that BRL sides would play

Can distinctly remember the old man letting me stay up to watch Brisbane Wests play Parra in the late 70's at some stage (1977-78 ??, wasn't 79 the old man almost killed himself before the final between Combined Brisbane and Cronulla )

Think Parra won pretty easily in the end , but it was close for a long time if memory serves

I remember watching Wests Magpies play Souths Magpies in Amco Cup. Maybe 1979?. They wore the predominantly black jumpers with white V and we played the white kit with black V. I think we beat them 25-2 or something like that. Gee I'd love to get hold of some of that stuff from that era on on a DVD.

Definitely 78 MM 25-5 they won

I know it wasn't 1979 because Brisbane had a combined side that year

And the afternoon of the 1979 final my Dad fell about 35-40 feet from a rope suspended between two trees , he was a lucky bloke , few feet the other way and he lands on a tap fitting

Broke both his wrists , Happy had nightmares for years , still never forget seeing his eyes rolls after he hit the ground

That's only built from the ignorance that the NSWRL evolved into the ARL. It may come as a shock to many, but it didn't. The NSWRL maintained a competition built within Metro Sydney(as it had since 1908), and the ARL proceeded in implementing a National Competition. The basis of a new national competition was created due to the large sums of money being offered and it was the ARL's intention to cash in (just like they wanted to cash in on the SL offer from Rupert)

When the ARL formed the National Comp for 1995, all the existing NSWRL Teams were INVITED into the new competition with other new franchises. All new contracts where formed, all new governance was formed, but someone forgot to form a new history book (probably through the ignorance of Arthurson. The same ignorance which tore the game apart 4 months in)

Prior to the Broncos, Qld would only view the NSWRL on the Saturday ABC game and Ch9 would broadcast BRL games as the game of the week. The general public up here didn't care about the NSWRL. It was simply a parallel competition to the BRL & Qld State League.

Sadly, Wayne Goss came along too late and without the pokie money in Qld prior, the NSWRL tore apart the BRL.

Now go back to sleep or iron your blouse!

LOL

That's because we are victims of the RL holocaust, implimented by the NSWRL. 😢

But it's ok… We will win the war. Some would say we already have considering virtually all the innovation for Rugby League in the past 20 years has come from Qld.

BB, so in terms of culture and being respectful to others, it is a case of Taylor doing as I say and not as I do.

Can you also imagine Wayne Bennett or Paul Green refusing to engage with any player, never mind the player beng an international, SOO and our most experience player as well as captain! A farcical situation created by Taylor.

Research Bennett and hodges and his move to roosters
No idea

He dropped him to reggies for the tail end of the year because he signed with the Roosters - and he wanted to play someone in first grade to gel with the team who was going to stay.
Not quite the same as Farah considering Hodges was a kid who had only played a dozen or so first grade games at the time.
He also wasn't a life member and club captain - or contracted for the next 2 years.

Yeah, can't compare the two.

On the contrary, i think JT would make a perfect shoeshine boy for Wayne
It mght be his next job description if he doesn't improve the team soon.

Well that is interesting but all I hear is…...

Let's stick to the facts…..what Taylor and WT have done with Farah is not unprecedented. Often showing the organisation that everyone is accountable is an important first step in changing the culture....talk is cheap. Taylor I'm sure will be held accountable unless the side shows sharp improvement in 2016.....coaches are easy to sack.
